Congressman Xavier Becerra (D - CA) Laughs When Someone from Ari David for Congress Suggests Opening an Immigration Rally With The Pledge of Allegiance. Becerra is the one in the dark suit seated on stage. Not until the congressman is specifically confronted does he and the CHIRLA/SEIU rally leader agree that not to do so would be a massive fault. However, you can see the natural inclination was to dismiss the suggestion. Date 2-19-10, location is the Los Angeles SEIU offices.

I didn’t even notice it was spelled “Immagration”. Must be my superior ability to spell correctly.

I believe Becerra is an anchor baby. I do not believe his first allegiance is to the United States.

I wonder how he would have responded if someone had suggested opening with the Mexican National Anthem?

Actually the person suggesting was not with the congressmans opponent. He is with Ari David who is running against Henry Waxman, another democrat.

like an oath of citizenship. similar to what military prospects do.

allegiance is a good start, but the oath is legal in regard to military contract,..along with your signature.

i’m sure something could be fixed up.

of course, i’m not bothered by the pledge,..helps kids understand that they belong to something bigger than themselves and they have a responsiblity to take care of their country.

Look out! They’ll be calling you a commie. This kind of stuff irritates me, too. You know if I am at a place where it is appropriate I’ll stand there and pledge with the best of them. But when somebody tries to force me or embarrass me into something, good or bad, I got enough Rebel in me to tell ‘em to stuff it.

parsy, who wonders why people want to turn something good into a “gotcha” moment....

They all laughed. My question would be why hadn’t they already said our pledge, they had our flag on the stage
I also noticed the mexican flag on the stage too.

ps this Becerra also veehemently opposed the surge

The boy scouts at my son’s pack meeting tonight will jump up without question when it is time to do the Pledge of Allegiance... but a US DEMOCRAT Congressman would rather laugh about it.

To another poster’s point, I’ll give greatest value to what a person does vs. what they pledge to do. However, in the absence of ‘doing’ I want to know that their committment is.

How many deployed servicemen from CA are in Becerra’s district? Wonder how they feel about Mr. Becerra not immediately stepping up to pledge allegiance to our great country?

The fellow who urged everyone to say the Pledge is a great citizen and patriot. Many kudos to him. Who was that phoney with the mic who had a good laugh when the pledge was requested?

Congressman Xavier Becerra (D-CA) Laughed When Someone Suggested Opening an SEIU Immigration Rally With The Pledge of Allegiance.

Did Cong Scumbag (D-CA) laugh when he took the Oath of Office to pledge allegiance to the US? Course not----he pledges allegiance only to Mexico.

A 2009 poll of Mexicans showed Mexicans in America---including those born in the United States---are more Loyal to Mexico that the US.

QUOTING FORMER CONG TOM TANCREDO (R-Colo) Juan Hernandez headed up the Mexican govt agency, "Ministry of Mexicans Living in the United States. Hernandez is a dual citizen of the United States and Mexico, and a good friend of then-presidents Bush and Mexico's Vicente Fox." Hernandez was presidential candidate John McCain's Hispanic outreach man.

Hernandez explained to Cong Tancredo the purpose of the Mexican government agency: Ministry of Mexicans Living in the United States:

(1) to increase the flow of Mexican nationals to the United States.....

(2) to compel Mexican nationals in the US to serve Mexico’s needs;

(3) to increase US remittances to Mexico of $50 billion a year (30% of the Mexican GDP);

(4) to get US jobs for an exploding Mexican population, alleviating Mexico's social instability due to rising unemployment;

(5) to get free US training for Mexicans, who are expected to return and repatriate those skills back to Mexico.

Hernandez supports amnesty: "By populating the United States with millions of Hispanics tied economically, politically and linguistically to Mexico, we are able to exert enormous influence and pressure on US policy and its dealings with Mexico."

NOTE: " Exerting enormous influence and pressure on US policy and its dealings with Mexico" means extorting billions of US tax dollars to subsidize corrupt Third World federales.

Thanks for the clarification. I’m not familiar with his district. I just heard him mention another candidate and assumed incorrectly.

Upon a second watching, the whole exercise seemed a farcical effort. The kneejerk reaction of most people around the camera mic seemed to take them off guard. What started off as more nervous laughter seemed to devolve into an insincere placation. He rushed so fast into the pledge, many didn’t have time to stand and concentrate on what they were saying. The recitation was half-hearted, gratuitous and obligatory.

Maybe he should have suggested that the woman at the podium lead the pledge. From her vantage point, she could have waited until the audience settled down and perhaps brought a little sincerity to the delivery.

But as it was, the performance was more of a joke to everyone in attendance.

Tell me which ones aren’t, at some level, a disgrace to their office? It would appear to be a short list.

Compulsory pledges are rather self defeating, aren’t they?
