After a year of binge spending, President Obama took the sobriety pledge yesterday -- and created a commission to figure out how to get the government to balance its checkbook.

"These are tough times and we cannot be spending like they are not," Obama said as he named a bipartisan panel that could recommend new taxes and drastic program cuts.

But critics ridiculed the president's vow to close the barn door that he opened wide last year.

"It's a very convenient excuse for doing nothing," Andrew Moyland, of the National Taxpayers Union, said of the commission.

This commission is PURE BS so Zero can endlessly mouth off how they are “doing something”. As usual, all PHONY FLUFF with no real substance.

The commission's purpose is no more than an effort to diffuse the blame for the tough times to come. By inviting "bipartisanship", 0 and henchmen want only to be able to rush to the TOTUS to announce that all the really neat scraps they have doled out to the masses they have organized are going to be taken away by those nasty Republicans.

I believe that Obama will stop spending about as much as I believe that Tiger will stop being unfaithful.

Like the wife that screws the Dallas defensive line and promises to stay faithful from now on... until the Saints come to town and you find 17 used condoms on you back seat. obama has just as much cred as that woman would.

We could always reduce the debt by paying the federal reserve 10 cents on the dollar for the debt they “bought” from treasury and eliminate ~45% of our problem.

Simple and painless.

Why was this buffoon elected. He has no ideas of his own. All he does is create commissions staffed by off the wall, liberal socialist, Chicago style thugs.

I don't know what this guy is high on but he is not thinking straight. His priorities are shoot baskets at eight - teleprompter session at ten.

The democrats and RINO's in congress are not much better.

I tend to agree with you but remember what Mencken said about the astuteness of the American public. The Democrats definitely take that to heart and have done very well with it - so far.

He was elected to be the ‘Rats sales manager. He is given a bill of goods to peddle by his managers (and by now most conservatives know who is included in that group) and we, the chumps in the voting public, are expected to buy it. We haven’t because he is a lousy, self-absorbed salesman who has worn out his welcome and has nothing but worn-out, socialistic junk to sell anyway.
