Princella Smith, 26, will announce on Saturday that she is running for Congress in Arkansass 1st District. Some would say she is too young. Others might point to other potential hurdles: Shes running in eastern Arkansas, a district that hasnt elected a Republican since 1872 in a Southern state that has never elected a black person to a congressional or state-wide office.
I think Im the person to do this, Smith said. Im going to tell people to come on board with me, listen to these ideas, and that we can get people excited again about the Republican Party.

Just an update on Ms. Smith’s speech today announcing her run. Ms. Smith was stressing the need to get government out of the way of small business, and that initiatives must be taken to shrink government, especially at the federal level. She said that citizens were going to have to stop depending on government for the answers and recognize that government was the problem. She stressed that the problem in Washington was the Beltway mentality that needs an infusion of small town, heartland values and solutions, and promised to bring just that. She praised the Tea Party Movement and encouraged especially those in the Black Community to find out what that movement was about and to not judge it based on liberal media propaganda. She said that she was proud to be a Republican, but she is a Conservative first. This was all relayed to me by friends who attended. Since I now live in a neighboring state, it was a bit too far for a daytrip. She sounds impressive and refreshingly sincere.
Wow, from your description she sounds terrific. I’ll be keeping a close eye on this race.
she sounds much better than the girl in north Miss
I haven’t researched Angela McGlowan, but I have read a few posts here that seem to be cause for concern. I’m confortable with Ms. Smith because of personal knowledge of her and her positions. I hope her age will not be a detriment. She is certainly not the average 26 yr. old in her experience or character. Very mature, and I think “servant’s heart” applies here.
I’ll be interested in reading what others on this forum think of her once they have had a chance to check out her creds.
IF she passes the primary, I will gladly donate to her campaign.
