HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Sixth District Rep. Howard Coble fainted Thursday afternoon during an event at the Rotary Club on Country Club in High Point
Coble was a featured speaker at the event and was greeting some of the nearly 100 people who had attended the event when he fell back and hit his head on a wall, Rotary President Mark Pierce said.
"He was close to the wall and he clocked the wall when he went down," Pierce said. "He had a small laceration on the back of his head but it wasn't anything major."
Chief of Staff Ed McDonald said the 78-year-old congressman was taken via ambulance to High Point Regional to be checked out.

Great guy. He sat beside me in church for years. I hope he is OK.
Howard is a fine man.
Prayers for a quick recovery.
Cracking your head on a wall can cause other problems which could be very dangerous. Hope he’s checked out thoroughly.
That’s my congressman. Hope he recovers easily.
Thats very unfortunate, especially at that age and the fact he hit his head also. Prayers for the man.
