WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration has reached a deal with black farmers....

I bet they REEEELY had to twist Hussein’s arm to get him to give taxpayer dollars to the brothers!
Does the food that ‘black’ farmers grow feed only black people or does it go on the public market for all races?
Please do not attempt the introduce actual facts into a thread that would otherwise be fertile ground for comments tinged with racial overtones.
Before the USDA stacked the deck in favor of white farmers in the form of socialist benefits subsidizing the white farmer's cost, thus driving black farmers out of business; blacks were represented among the farming community roughly along their proportion of the population.
After the actions of the racist socialist USDA, black farmers are as rare as an intelligent liberal.
Socialism subsidizes racism.
However, we do need to end all farm subsidies.
Of all the black grievance groups I’d ever heard of in America, farmers must be near the bottom of the list. Not even Jesse Jackson, Jr. or Al Sharpton bothers. This sounds so Zimbabwe.
I read what you say, but why and when would these offenses have happened. Is this stuff harking back to Jim Crow and Democrats? I hear Indians got an even bigger screw.
“I bet they REEEELY had to twist Husseins arm to get him to give taxpayer dollars to the brothers!”
Actually, the Feds settled this case around ten years ago after it was shown that the government favored equally qualified white farmers in their lending practices.
So yes, now we must pay-up, or perhaps you advocate a system where white farmers are given preferential treatment than black farmers.
It was a pattern of behavior through the 50's, 60's, and 70's.
I hear Indians got an even bigger screw.
They did. It was one of the 'minor' Clinton scandals. Minor meaning compared to Impeachment. But the Secretary of the Interior was threatened with jail for Contempt of Court over billions of missing dollars in money owed to various Indian tribes.
My brother is a corn/soybean farmer in Nebraska. The only “subsidies” he receives are loans backed by the U.S. When the ethanol debacle arose, corn went from approx. $4 a bushel to $7 a bushel. It is now about $3.80 a bushel. However, seed prices went up drastically, fertilizer went up drastically, fuel went up, etc. When corn prices dropped by half since the artificial inflation to $7, everything else didn’t cut in half.
Three are many of us that work in industries that are impacted by fluctuations of the price of a certain commodity and most of us don't get bailed-out by the Tax Payer when we or our industry makes the wrong decision.
So yes, it is time we End All Farm Subsidies!
This new settlement is pigford #2. More money to be paid out
Money was already paid out under pigford #1
There is a lot of scamming going on along with some honest claims http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=pigford+scam&sourceid=navclient-ff&rlz=1B3GGLL_enUS358US358&ie=UTF-8

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What is the Pigford case?
A. The Pigford Case, or more accurately Pigford v Veneman, was a class action lawsuit brought by Timothy Pigford, a black farmer in Eastern North Carolina. The suit alleged discrimination against black farmers. The suit ended when the United States Agriculture Department entered into a Consent Decree in which they agreed to compensate black farmers who were victims of discrimination between January 1, 1981 and December 31, 1999.
The suit was the largest Civil Rights settlement in history with nearly $1 billion being paid to over 16,000 victims.
Unfortunately, about 70,000 black farmers were denied a review of their claim based on the merits because they did not submit a complete claim package by the filing deadline.
Q. What is happening now?
Forty acres and a mule?
Do you know any black farmers?
;-/
This makes at least the 3rd time the government has given a massive payout to black farmers. A friend of mine got all his government loans forgiven and a $50,000 payoff the first time, and I don’t know what he got the second time.
Yes.
Your racism does no credit to FR.
How much to the lawyers get?
There goes the price of mules...
I’m careful to always shop at the white-farmer-only produce market.
