An international arrest warrant for the head of Mossad should be issued following the assassination of a Hamas militant in Dubai, the emirate's police chief has said.
Lt Gen Dahi Khalfan Tamim directly accused Israel's Mossad intelligence agency of orchestrating the hit on Hamas commander Mahmoud al-Mabhouh.
He said Interpol should now seek out those those responsible and called for "a red notice against the head of Mossad" to be issued.
He said: "Our investigations reveal that Mossad is involved in the murder of (Mahmoud) al-Mabhouh. It is 99 percent, if not 100 percent, that Mossad is standing behind the murder."
Israel has maintained its "policy of ambiguity" on security, refusing to confirm the involvement of Mossad, which is now run by former army general Meir Dagan. Interpol has now issued warrants for the 11 members of the alleged hit squad who used false EU passports, including British ones, to travel to Dubai in order to kill al-Mabhouh.
David Miliband, the Foreign Secretary, has described the use of fake British passports in the assassination as an "outrage" and has said he remains determined to "get to the bottom of" the affair.
The identities of six Britons living in Israel were stolen by members of an alleged hit squad which killed Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai in January.
Mr Miliband spoke out after the Israeli ambassador to London, Ron Prosor, was called to the Foreign Office to discuss the affair, which is rapidly escalating into a major diplomatic crisis.
"We wanted to give Israel every opportunity to share with us what it knows about this incident," Mr Miliband said.
"We hope and expect that they will co-operate fully with the investigation that has been launched by the Prime Minister and will be undertaken by the Serious Organised Crime Agency."

“Arrest Head of Mossad, Dubai Police Chief Says”
I’d like to see interpol go in and try it. That would be FUN!
He was a Hamas commander. Hamas is at war with Israel. He was a legitimate target.
To paraphrase the Greeks at Thermopylae, “Come and get him!”
Gee, I was thinking of a promotion!
Yes, can you imagine how easy it would be to make a case against the head of any intelligence agency? Of course, this guy is probably posturing.
Arrest the leaders of Dubai for allowing known terrorsts to do business on their soil.
For such an allegedly enlightened country like Dubai, the first question that should be asked is why they let a known member of a terrorist organization into their country?
Protecting Israel is a clandestine business and the Hamas leader was fair game. I am certain the political sympathies and proclivities of the police chief are with the Palestinians, Hamas and Hezbollah. The government of Dubai is in charge, though, not him.
They going arrest Ziva David wait till Gibbs hear that
“Dom’t blame us, terrorists. It was those nasty Jews! That’s right, we had NOTHING to do with it.”
Ding, ding, ding - we have a winnah!
Hey, they tricked them by using British passports! No fair!
So, do the Dubai authorities have any Israeli spies in custody, or they just ranting?
I wonder how the agents brought weapons into Dubai with them?
From another article “And yet two additional suspects, both Palestinians, are also in custody in Dubai on charges that they helped the 11-man assassination team. Tamim says the men are linked to Fatah, which is Hamas rival.”
Sounds like Dubai is trying to make a fool of them selves.
Will ZIVA object? Will Gibbs intervene? Enquiring minds want to know!
I will continue to support Israel in the larger scheme but this is so far beyond the pale if true. I have a hard time believing the Mossad could be this incredibly stupid. First if the Mossad sent a hit team to the US (w a real President) we’d answer fairly harshly. Second they not only got caught they actually allowed for a minute by minute surveillance of almost the entire team. The Mossad can’t be that stupid nor that pathetic. Re of whether Dubai knew of the terrorist presence in their county, you don’t get to send hit teams...and you’re not supposed to get caught if you do.
