I'm underwater in my house, and I owe the IRS. Fortunately in exchange for not harassing me, the IRS was happy to put a lein on my house.

I heard that, too. It will be presented to most of the country that he was a tea partier and thus tea parties are evil and not to be joined. hmm.

The feds will probably use it to go after General Aviation as well, just like the cropduster b.s. after 9/11 that the Bush administration was trying where the feds were trying to scare everybody into thinking cropdusters were evil.

you know i lost my job after 16 years of employment. i have a retirement account but i at least know if i took the money out i’d have to pay taxes on it. oh and i still owe the feds money. luckily we’re getting more back from the state to make up for what we owe the feds.

The people he was trying to kill are the people you deal with when you've been caught actively committing fraud. It's not a simple issue of making a mistake or something happening causing you to have to negotiate payments with them. Now he could have been deliberately not paying his taxes, but either way he was actively committing some kind of fraud.

I've saved the page to my hard drive. What's interesting is, there's another thread hosting the suicide note here on FR. It's here http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2454320/posts, and links to an online article by Austin American Statesmen that prints the original note that has now been pulled.

This Statesmen site claims "We found this note on a Web site being pointed at by social media users". Their post is dated 12:16PM.

The first notice of this suicide note was posted here, on this very thread. The link is http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2454156/posts?page=593#593. You'll note the first notice with page link is post #593 by LdSentinal at 12:03:41PM. The second is post #594 by yourself, Deo volente at 12:04:12PM, and the third is post #595 by good old days at 12:04:15PM. All these prior to the Statesman article at 12:16PM.

Yeah. I haven't had a paycheck in ≈3-1/2 years. Consulting gigs are few and far between, but I've been able to keep the wolf away from the door by borrowing and sucking down the equity in my house to below zero.

If our start-up ever gets funded (soon!) I'll be OK.

I cannot determine the time zone of Business Insider, for a certainty. BI could have found it "first", or it could have been cynwoody. If so, or even if cyn' simply dug it out from Stack's page, personally (which is how it appeared to me to have occurred) then bravo!, to cyn' regardless.
