"What happened in Haiti could happen anywhere in the Caribbean because all these island nations are in peril because of global warming," Glover said. "When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I'm sayin'?"
I must confess that the logic of Professor Glover's scientific analysis defied my limited ability to comprehend.
Last week Mr. Glover took to the airwaves of left wing Pacifica Radio to give us the benefit of his vast political insight regarding the alleged U.S.-South Africa conspiracy against his friend and fellow Marxist Jean-Bertrand Aristide. In an exclusive interview with Amy Goodman Professor Glover explained why Aristide has not been allowed to return to Haiti to assist with the relief effort.
DANNY GLOVER: Well, he's mystified by that. You know, there's been several calls for him to return. His party still -- the Lavalas is still the largest party, that's not participating, that's not active in the electoral process. And yet, he's dismayed by that, the fact that both -- it seems as if the South African government and the United States are complicit in his not returning to the hemisphere. Now, that's certainly...
GOODMAN: What is he saying the South African government?
GLOVER: Well, he said the South African government -- he didn't say this. But I'm saying, it seems to be a tacit complicity between -- to not have him return in any capacity to the hemisphere. That's been the case all along. So he's essentially waiting by, waiting for some word of the possibility of him returning.
Although it is difficult to figure out just what the eloquent Mr. Glover is trying to say here, it does seem as if he is accusing the United States and President Obama of conspiring with South Africa and President Zuma of conspiring to prevent Mr. Aristide from returning to Haiti to lend his support to the Haitian people in their time of need. This must be quite a conundrum for Professor Glover with all of this political intrigue and no practical way to play the race card. That must really hurt!
Later in the interview Mr. Glover gave us a quick history lesson about the American involvement in Haiti.
And, of course, I mean, we see George Bush and Bill Clinton, former presidents, who have been the key orchestrators of the undermining of Haitian sovereignty and democracy, standing-standing right there to supposedly play some sort of role.
Well it is always fascinating to get a lesson in history and politics from one of the intellectual giants of the entertainment industry. Why it is that individuals like Danny Glover, Jane Fonda, Sean Penn, Susan Sarandon and their comrades who have prospered the most from living in our great nation are always so quick to condemn American exceptionalism and our way of life?

"When we see what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen, this is the response, this is what happens, you know what I'm sayin'?" It appears that what he's sayin' is that the earth is a conscious entity that was aware that the nut jobs that met in Copenhagen accomplished nothing and therefore created an earthquake in Haiti as retribution. But if that were the case, why not create an earthquake in Denmark...the message would have been clearer? What fruitcakes these progressives are.

I met Danny Glover once. He is a meathead. He also gets real sweaty in front of live audiences.

I'm certain Aristide is just as mystified as why the following movies were even made:
Lethal Weapon III & IV
Predator II
Angels in the Outfield (remake)
and the utter piece of crap that was "Grand Canyon".

Danny Glover ought to take his winnings and go retire somewhere. Until then, a big `ol dose of STFU is probably in order.

Nah. Global warming causes earthquakes.
You see, Cheney has this machine, and whenever Bush tells him to, he uses it to cause a catastrophe.
I believe this is how Obama was elected. ;)

It never ceases to amaze me that those who stand in from of a camera and speak someone else's words from a script begin to think they are intellectuals. The really amazing part is that there are legions of people out there that hang on every word from these morons.
Wait - that also describes "The One" and his followers!

Morton Downey Jr. fan? I liked him a little back in the day.
Of course, he opened the door for Jerry Springer, Geraldo, etc.

I believe this is how Obama was elected. ;) Glover is a fine example of what passes as an intellectual amongst progressives...that is how Obama got elected.

Well said. Many people swoon over actors and believe they can do no wrong, of course Zer0 is an accomplished actor. :)

another example of why actors should never ever speak in public unless they’re reading from a script. (writers are on average a lot more intelligent than actors)

Do you think any of his friends sat him down and talked to him about this? Did anyone explain to him how ridiculously stupid his comment was, and therefore how utterly ignorant it made him sound? I mean, it'd take less than 10 minutes to cover enough geology to explain earthquakes. If anyone out there is a true friend of his, they should pull him aside and set him straight.
Better yet, as others have suggested, he should just keep his mouth shut. Like most "entertainers" he apparently doesn't know much of anything about how the real world works. This is not surprising since successful entertainers generally lead lifestyles far removed from those of you and I. When they don't really understand politics, economics, science, engineering, military strategy, etc. they need to keep their mouths shut on such topics unless and until they gain some training and/or experience.
