A recent Washington Post/ABC News Poll found that 30 months out from the 2012 party presidential nominations, only 71% of Americans believe that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be president.
This compares with someone named Barack Obama. At the same point in his then unannounced campaign, 0% thought he was qualified for the Oval Office. That's because he wasn't even on the polling lists' radar then.
The Illinois senator didn't show up on the polling charts until 24 months before the 2008 elections, just two months before his official announcement in Springfield, Ill. And even then he trailed the presumptive nominee, Hillary Clinton, 29-22, as the choice for the Democratic presidential nomination.
To illustrate how accurate such polls were in those medieval days of this century, someone named Al Gore was the third choice among Democrats then, followed closely by -- don't laugh now -- John Edwards.

One candidacy giveaway: new books. Palin's came out last fall. Mitt Romney's next month. And in April, Fred Thompson's. (We're not counting Karl Rove's, Dick Cheney's or Bush's.)
Palin also has other apparent qualifiers for the GOP 2012 race: she is not of Washington and doesn't currently hold an elective office, having resigned the Alaska governor's job last summer.
A surprise move that drew considerable criticism at the time, since largely overlooked, her lucrative unemployment provides ample time now for priceless regular media exposure on Fox News and to rouse her base, as she did 11 days ago at the National Tea Party Convention, the next day in Texas and last Sunday to cheering thousands at NASCAR's Daytona 500.
What base does anyone see coalescing around other potential GOP competitors?(continued)

I LOVE my Fred Thompson. He and Sarah would be a dream team in my book!
Fred ping!
*****Sarah Palin’s ahead of where Obama was 30 months before his nomination*****
Sarah Palin is ahead of Obama 15 MONTHS AFTER HIS ELECTION!!!!
AND WITHOUT THE BLESSING OF THE PRESS! WOW!
Who are they polling?
I NEVER recall a poll asking home many people thought Obama was qualified to be president
Imagine that
Keep going Sarah!! you are getting to them so you must be doing something right
The standing O at NASCAR tells you everything you need to know
Sarah should stop doing those radio spots for McCain here in AZ. Bad Karma there.
I don’t see loyalty as a character defect, do you?
“According to CBS News, only 29% of registered voters considered then presidential candidate Barack Obama experienced enough to be President in August of 2007, just six months before the Iowa caucuses. This CBS News poll shows that a plurality of Democrat primary voters considered Obama to lack the experience to serve as President. By a almost a 2-to-1 margin, Independents answered the question negatively.”

On the contrary but supporting a major league RINO is.
If Thompson wanted to run, he would have made a real effort in ‘08. He didn’t. Let him be; he’d probably just be another Dole anyway.
Yes, it does, more than any couch potato poll possibly could. Were the election held today she would win by a record majority.
NASCAR is America.
I acknowledge the attempt to spin this as something positive, but 71% is a particularly high number that believe she is unqualified (assuming polling is accurate).
The ‘polling’ is a joke!
Nobody knew who Barry was, 30 months before his nomination. Come to think of it, we still don’t (other than a usurping marxist-muslim POS).
I agree strongly with Palin’s basic opinions, but I don’t yet have a sense she is electable. While one might take some comfort in the numbers in this article, I suspect she is farther behind in many respects, the main one being that Uhbamuh was not ever really required to describe why he was qualified to be President. The bar was set on the floor in terms of his qualifications. For Palin, the bar will be set between peaks in the Himalayas.
While I understand her desire to express the need for “common sense solutions”, this basic statement will not be nearly enough to carry the day in a run for POTUS.
The media worked overtime to stress the “historic-ness” of electing the first black president.
Expect the same media to downplay Gov. Palin’s chance at being the first female president.
That’s a huge assumption, considering the source.
Its 2010.........laying out one’s detail plan now is too soon, when it’s 2011 and beyond is best because thats when most of the public start to pay real attention to the White House race and the primaries and one should release White Papers and specifics...........*note* Palin is planning a second book, most likely a policy paper book.
You are the Eric Cantor for President guy aren’t you?
