Reid 'confident' Dems will keep Bayh's seat
The Hill ^ | 02/15/10 | Eric Zimmermann

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said today he's "confident" Democrats will hold on to Sen. Evan Bayh's (D-Ind.) seat in 2010.

Reid made the comments in a statement on Bayh's retirement:

"Evan Bayh has been a strong voice for Indiana for many years and I thank him for his service. I respect his decision to step aside and look forward to continuing working with him to create jobs, strengthen the economy and keep our country safe throughout the remainder of his term. I am also confident that the efforts of Senator Bayh along with those of the DSCC will keep this seat in the Democratic Caucus.”

Rep. Brad Ellsworth (D-Ind.) said earlier today he will consider a campaign to replace Bayh. Ellsworth would face former Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.), who launched his campaign before Bayh's announcement.

Harry “the weasel” Reid might as well be living on another planet. He’s one pathetic alien, imo.

When he attacked the “Review Journal” his time was up. Vegas is bankrupt and Reids boss keeps busting on them. Vegas will not forget it.

The only Dem having the determination and desire to "hold on to Sen. Evan Bayh's (D-Ind.) seat in 2010" is Bawney Fwank ...

Well, he is the party leader and probably was one of the reasons Bayh not seeking for reelection. He cannot say anything else but this delusional pep talk.

I don't know what Reid is smoking but I don't think either the Dims or the GOP should count on taking any of the seats that are vacant through retirement.

I think it would be easier for the GOP to take an incumbents seat rather than a vacant seat. The mood of the country is anti-incumbant not pro GOP. The GOP has to have good candidates to win these seats, preferably candidates who promise to serve only two terms for the senate and three in the house..and keep that promise.

Harry also believes that Bayh wants to run for Governor again 2012, but now that he’s decided NOT to run for the senate this year,Bayh is MORE likely to vote for Obamacare. These libtards are both deluded AND stupid...

Reid's idiotic remark reminds me of going full retard in 'Tropic Thunder'. But for Reid, luckily it is a very short trip or maybe it's not even an act. Once you've been 'full retard' nobody takes you seriously again. And nobody has taken Reid seriously for a very long time!

“one of the reasons Bayh not seeking for reelection”

Yeah, and in spite of what Bayh’s spokesman has stated about the Dem’s internal polling showing him ahead of Dan Coats and other Republican challengers, he was in deep doo-doo because of his voting record supporting O’Bammy coupled with the anti-incumbent mood of voters. This would have been Bayh’s first defeat in an election and virtually ruined any aspirations for the Presidency. He is a democrat through and through and has voters believing he is a moderate blue dog. I’ll agree with the “dog” part!

Bayh made his announcement on a Monday - that alone is odd for Dems, who normally announce anything newsworthy on a Saturday at 5:00 p.m. The fact that the announcement came just 4 days before the deadline to enter the primary race indicates that it wasn't just "disillusionment" that made him quit.

Something happened over the weekend. My guess is that it had something to do with the strategy the Dems are planning to use when they attend the upcoming "health care summit" at the White House. Reid's hatchet job on the Jobs Bill probably played a part too.
