Scenes from behind the campaign of JD Hayworth vs. McCain. Part 3: Announcement day.
Myself ^ | Feb 15 , 2010 | Nateman

Posted on 02/15/2010 5:55:27 PM PST by Nateman

Went in early today in anticipation of JD Hayworths official announcement in front of his headquarters in Phoenix. I got there at 7:00 in the morning and as the speech was not scheduled until 10 I figured there would only be a handful of people there. I was wrong. JD Hayworth was there and he was already talking to a news crew from Fox. Of course the campaign manager, David Paine , was there.

He has a nice hotel room but in anticipation of the main event he had actually slept on a couch at the headquarters. There was a large area roped off in front , but the huge Fox Mobile, with its Antenna Dish already pointing towards space, was parked inside, a privilege granted only to the media vehicles.

Inside the headquarters a large wooden platform for the podium needed moving outside. It was heavy enough that 6 strong men were needed to move it. A burly carpenter who built the stage pulled up with his Alaskan sled dog sitting in the back. He had a custom made pipe assembly to hang a large banner from. It was pieced together with some very long American flags draped on either side.

Inside the headquarters pictures were now mounted on the walls, the bill of rights, the carrier Ronald Reagan, along with other patriotic graphics. Unfortunately I had to go at this point because of prior arraignments. I did manage to get a JD Hayworth T-shirt though.

I did get to see JD's second big speech today, this time in Sun City, a large retirement area. It was set up in front of the Republican Party headquarters . On a jury rigged stage of pallets covered with plywood I did what I could to make sure it was sturdy enough to stand on safely. JD showed up and spent some time shanking hands and meeting all those retirees. After a few speeches by some local party folks, Joe Arpiao, America's toughest Sheriff, came up to speak. He had a tie clip-on in the shape of a pistol. His black car parked out front looked like a luxury tank, complete with some pretty tough looking fellows standing near-by.

Obama's “Just Us” department has been trying to intimate Joe into stopping his crackdown on illegals . Old Joe is not about to be intimidated by anybody. His speech came down hard on the problems of amnesty. He had plenty of nice stuff to say about Hayworth too, having known him for many years .

Finally JD Hayworth came up to speak. No teleprompters , no notes, he went over his many differences with McCain. “He not only likes Hillary , he is LIKE Hillary!” .The one liners just flowed out naturally “If amnesty is granted to illegals we are looking at 2.3 Trillion dollars needed to pay for their retirement!” “Terrorists should not be better fed, better housed, and better treated than American soldiers!” . He even mentioned the raspy voice of the lady McCain's been using to run attack ads against him. “That's because she's full of it!” I blurted, raising a smile of the lady next to me.

JD's day was far from done. He still had speeches in Chandler ,Tucson, and Green Valley to do before the end of the day. For me , however , after taking apart the jury rigged platform, I was done.

Dump McCain. It will be great to see the last of him. And it will send a big message to Republican HQ.

I suspect if McCain were to actually lose in the primary, he would go independent like Lieberman. Might very well win in that situation. I would not be a bit surprised if Lieberman actually encouraged him to do so.

Thanks for the detailed report! Shepard Smith on his Fox News report had a little segment near the end and McCain looked very old compared to JD, who came across a lot younger and a lot more "alive" and friendlier!

And he made an appearance on The Savage Nation this aft! like a younger Zell Miller. Full of purpose, energy, and he is articulate and makes clear what McCain and the rest of the RINOs are all about. I don't believe he can lose!

Byebye to Bayh, Mikulski (yuk) too--we are on a roll!

McCain couldn’t speak a negative word against Obama, but he sure was rippin Hayworth, even before he ran.

I donated to Hayworth today, too.

We have so many battles ahead of us, large and small. And we have to do our best as best we can behind every one.

Tenacity may win out. Actually, I am sure it will.

The McCains and Cheneys - pushing the homosexual and sodomy agenda.

Sigh.... This might be one of the most annoying posts I've read in a while. There are far greater issues at stake here than the sexual orientation of the daughters of two politicians. I could care less.

These two are complete opposites. Cheney is a true conservative, McCain is a democRAT with an R next to his name. McCain is an embarassment while Cheney is someone of which we can be proud.

What's important here is that we have someone that can kick McCain to the curb and put a significant chill in the liberal wing (RINO wing) of the Republican party. It's time to get back to the conservative/constitutional roots of this country. JD Hayworth can do it.

I don’t like Savage at all, but I sure hope the appearance helps JD. I’m sure you know Zell Miller is a democrat...lol.

I lost all respect for Cheney now. Because his daughter is a lesbian, does he think it’s right for homos to be in the service? Fair to straight men? No problems? He’s lost it I think. Too much stress thru the 8 yrs w/ Bush, his heart. A man his age, whether he’s been in the military or not, should know right from wrong.

Please paste a link to the article that says that Cheney thinks it's OK for homos to be in the military. Not the sensationalistic headline, his words.

I THINK THE RNC HAVE SOLD THEIR SOULS FOR A MESS OF POTTAGE. (And made a mess for us, but we will keep cleaning it up!)

I know, but he’s a DINO! He didn’t leave the party, the party left him.
