The environmentalists are definately working against the best interest of the US, whether it is for the Saudis or Communists, I am not sure. They advocate all of the altenative energy sources, yet when one is tried, THEY are the same ones standing in the way of its implementation. They are against all forms of enegy because they are against humans. We humans, have defiled the nataural world and if left to multiply, we will surely destroy it. People are the enemy of environmentalists.

Whacko environmentalists run this country. The Federal government, under Obama and the Democrats, will do whatever they want.

Maxine Waters already said that is the Liberal’s intention.

Check out the conservative babe in the red bikini top!

Those conservative rallies are so completely spiked by the propaganda machine it’s disgusting.

I’m now saying we’re at war but they’re the only ones fighting.

I hope and pray that you are wrong. That someone stops this insanity and lets good old American capitalism get to work to solve our energy and economic problems. We need to get government out of everything except national security. Maybe if they only had one job to do the could get it right.

I looked and looked. I do remember stories about China drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. Now all the pages available say it isn't the truth. I will say that I have noticed that Internet wizards, working for the Left, are able to put negative stories on the first few pages available in a search. I do not remember that original story being recanted. Now all you can find is how the story wasn't true and Republicans were pushing a lie. I don't believe everything I read on the Internet and I certainly don't believe something just because it is placed higher than other stories in a search. You can BUY that prominence for your story if you want people to believe it.

It’s possible that they are working for the benefit of the Saudis,

but I think they are just a bunch of elitist, collectivist Luddites that want us peasants to live without using any of “their” energy.

You know what they say, oil and Waters don't mix!

Maxine Waters warns Shell president in House committee hearing

Posted: May 23, 2008
2008 WorldNetDaily

A report by Fox News, captured in a clip posted on YouTube.com (Must see video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUaY3LhJ-IQ) , showed Waters challenging the president of Shell Oil, John Hofmeister, to guarantee the prices consumers pay will go down if the oil companies are allowed to drill wherever they want off of U.S. shores.

Hofmeister replied: "I can guarantee to the American people, because of the inaction of the United States Congress, ever-increasing prices unless the demand comes down."

The Shell exec said paying $5 at the pump "will look like a very low price in the years to come if we are prohibited from finding new reserves, new opportunities to increase supplies."

Waters responded, in part, "And guess what this liberal would be all about. This liberal will be about socializing … uh, um..."

The congresswoman paused to collect her thoughts [for about 5-6 seconds this went on, while her colleagues behind her laughed].

"...would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies..."

The oil executives responded, according to Fox News, by saying they've seen this before, in Hugo Chavez's Venezuela.

Don’t worry, the Chicoms and Russkis will be more than welcome to drill off our shores from 6 inchs. on out, the RATS won’t mind.

If you are interested in the truth the facts are quite clear.

It appears that the Chinese are or were in negotiations to buy existing Gulf of Mexico leases which are currently help by a Norwegian company. So yes, there is nothing new about foreign companies owning offshore leases in US territorial waters.

And the Cubans have been attempting to make a deal with foreign interests including those in India and China for oil exploration within Cuban waters. However, it does not appear those deals have been finalized and none of the said exploration has taken place.

And if it does, the drilling would take place in Cuba’s territorial waters, looking for Cuban oil and there is not a damn thing we can do about it.

Some of the articles I read suggested that they were also interested in slant drilling which might take oil from under our waters, wouldn’t it?

Nationalized Oil Companies are next on the list. Just wait!

The difference is that the oil companies are not struggling like the auto makers and banks. Obama doesn't have the cover of "too big to fail" to take over the oil companies. It would be seen as a pure socialist money grab a la Chavez in Venezuela.

The the American people stand for that? What industry would be next, broadcasting? Agriculture?

Every platform in the Gulf of Mexico has wells that are results of directional drilling and it would not be feasible for anyone to place a platform in the Gulf that is not directionally drilled.

However, there are severe physical limitations to directional drilling and the deeper the well the less further the lateral reach of the well. So in other words, it would be extremely difficult for the Cubans to place a platform in their territorial waters and extract oil from American leases.

“I would love to have more domestic E&P as it would make my job quite a bit more convenient. However, if such production were to the the price of oil lower, then domestic E&P would cease under economic restraints as it would not be profitable to drill in new areas within the United States.”

That’s a contradiction - the price goes down, but just a bit, to balance supply and demand. If it went so far down to make domestical oil disappear (when we are producing around 5million bbl/day) the price would go back up. Somewhere in the4 middle is the balance...

So you get to do a lot of new work, and we get cheaper - but not much cheaper - oil.

We can find a lot of oil at $70/barrel that was non-economical at $20/barrel. The REAL issue is whether we send that $70 to Carolina’s and Texas and Cali and Alaska ... or to Nigeria and Iran etc.

I’d rather we keep the money here.
