The news is only available at Detroit News, which can't be linked. Looking for another source to add.
Basically his brother Atty Geoffrey Fieger has confirmed. He had been suffering from lung and brain cancer.

How sad. I enjoyed his work when I was much younger. May he rest in peace.

Me too.. takes me right back to 7th grade. Back when I thought The Knack was “harder rock.” :) He was a cheeky guy and clever, and very talented.

His passing has been noted in Wikipedia already.
I didn’t realize he was about my age (born in 1952). Sad.
Rest in peace.

Is it just destiny, destiny?
Or is it just a game in my mind, Sharona?
To: vladimir998

The world gets to keep the songs. That’s one good thing.

I hadn’t put the ‘attorney Geoffrey Feiger” part together with Knack/Doug Feiger. It seems Doug had a philosophical attitude about his fate. RIP.

The drummer for the Knack also died recently, gary bruce. I remember my Dad singing it to me as a lullaby.

Yes, it is.
On an up note: I was watching “my bologna” the other night.
Means something if your song is spoofed by Weird Al.

His brother is Jeffrey Feiger, Jack Kevorkian’s attorney.

Weird Al on Twitter a bit ago — said Doug was the first artist ever to approve one of his parodies. They were good friends, sounds like.

I can't think of who was friends with him that I read their blog regularly, Glenn “Instapundit” Reynolds maybe.
