Joseph Kennedy III, the son of former congressman Joe Kennedy, is being tipped to launch a political career soon as insiders mull over who the next Kennedy in public life will be.
Kennedy, 29, may be interested in the South Shore-Cape Cod House seat currently held by Democratic Congressman Bill Delahunt, who has not yet committed to a tough re-election fight.
Massachusetts and Capitol Hill without a Kennedy is like Fenway Park without the Wall, Dan Payne, a Democratic media consultant, referring to the famous Green Monster told the Boston Globe. They were meant to be together.
Others believe the era may be over. Theres an endless supply of Kennedys but they all do different things with their lives, said Philip W. Johnston, chairman of the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights. They should not be measured by how they do in electoral politics.
Joseph P. Kennedy III is a Harvard Law School graduate and former Peace Corps volunteer, is seen as the most likely, Democratic Party insiders say. He has made numerous appearances at Democratic party events and has expressed the most interest in seeking office. He is currently an assistant district attorney in Barnstable County. His brother Matthew Kennedy is working in the Obama administration but is said to be more interested in a business career.
Other possibilities for politics include Ted Kennedy's widow Vicki who is said to still be furious about the loss of her husband's senate seat to Scott Brown, while Patrick Kennedy has not ruled out another run for office.
Yes, it was Delahunt. If he had a conscience, it would bother him.
LOL!
I was just prepared to post that after finally rid of Patches we may get Ginger Kennedy.
(Kinda looks like a young Conan O’Brien.)

Drugs? Alcohol? Rape? Plagerism? Assault? Drownings?
Gots to be some slime, after all he is a kennedy.

Joseph P. Kennedy III Urges Young People To Act Locally, And Globally
Cape Cod Chronicle, The (Chatham, MA) - Thursday, May 7, 2009
Author: Alan Pollock
HARWICH The grand-nephew of President John F. Kennedy, the man who established the Peace Corps, urged Harwich High School students this week to serve their communitylocally and globallyby volunteering.
Joseph P. Kennedy III , the son of former Congressman Joseph Kennedy II and the grandson of Robert Kennedy, said young people can serve overseas in the Peace Corps, or in their own neighborhoods. He visited the school at the invitation of Congressman William Delahunt, who is promoting renewed interest in the Peace Corps.
A third-year student at Harvard Law School, Kennedy continues his family’s tradition of public service; he works for a pro-bono law firm helping Boston area families avoid foreclosure, and helped design and teach a program for at-risk youth in Jamaica Plain. He has also worked as an anti-poverty consultant for the government of East Timor. Before attending law school, Kennedy served in the Peace Corps in the Dominican Republic from 2004 to 2006.
Kennedy said his biggest challenge was to develop a rapport with the Dominicans among whom he was living. He tried to share in our joint national pastimesbaseballby joining a softball team, but couldn’t keep up with the other players; he tried visiting with poor families from the most impoverished neighborhoods, but found that his red hair terrified the children, who thought he was a witch. Kennedy hit a lucky break when the local Dominicans were wowed by a novelty he had brought with him: s’mores. It was ultimately marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers, together with time and perseverance, that opened his dialogue with the locals.
The poverty in parts of the Dominican Republic is no laughing matter. In one town, local men earned 10 cents a day literally carrying tourists on their backs up a rocky cliff to catch a glimpse of waterfalls. Though the tour companies made plenty of money, the employees remained in poverty.
“We basically created a union,” Kennedy told the students. The workers received much higher wages, and a portion of their revenues were reserved for environmental projects and community development efforts. Revenues increased for the workers and the tour companies alike, he said.

OH NO!
Please NO!
Harvard Law and Peace Corp. That’s enough.
He tried to share in our joint national pastimesbaseballby joining a softball team, but couldnt keep up with the other players.
Wonder if he could keep up with Patches. LOLOL!
He found that his red hair terrified the children, who thought he was a witch.
ROTFLMAO. They were right.
Funny. Kim Jong-Il says the same thing about North Korea.
It must be nice to be so wealthy that you and your whole family doesn’t have to work. Easy way to burnish a resume with “public service”. Or should it be “public self-service”?
LOL- Apparently the same thing as a Nobel Peace Prize...nobody really knows!
wow I’m certainly inspired that young Kennedy has worked as an ANTI-POVERTY consultant, WTH is that?
Harvard without a Kennedy admission is like a zoo without a monkey exhibit.
Just throw and catch a softball? He’s a Kennedy; no pathetic little “John Kerry moments” for them. They crash big time. Can he throw and catch while skiing?
So much for making the next Congress Kennedy-free. This time, this one looks like Carrot Top.
