Stern says NBA projects $400 million in losses
NBC ^ | 2/13/2010 | AP

David Stern said Saturday the NBA is projecting league-wide losses of about $400 million this season and has lost hundreds of millions in each previous year of the current collective bargaining agreement.

The commissioner said it has shown the players’ association those numbers in hopes of demonstrating why the league feels it needs “significant changes” in the next deal.

The NBA’s first proposal for a deal to replace the one that expires on July 1, 2011, was thrown out Friday after what players association director Billy Hunter called a “contentious” 90-minute meeting. Hunter said the proposal called for harsh changes that would affect every NBA player.

Uh-huh.

Save for future reference.

Like, for instance, the contracts signed by those drafted in this year's.....draft.

There's probably a more coherent way to say what I just said but the alcohol currently in my system will be there for a few more hours so....

Pretty crazy when you realize that Detroit Mayor dave Bing took a part time job in the bank while he was playing in the NBA. They wouldn’t approve a loan so he got a job with them.

He played for 66 to 72 and was even an all star at least 3 time and he only made some $20,000 a year back then.

If they want to save the NBA they can start by getting rid of the Gangsters and thugs that play the game.

They don’t need to be angels but I can’t see spending good money watching thugs running up and down the court.

Maybe when they clean up the players the fans will return to the game.

In addition to the thugs in the NBA the league also screwed Seattle out of a team...so there's one part of the nation that isn't on board, nor is it likely to be.

But..but..the NBA captures the Youth market..how could they possibly lose 400 million when they have the Iphone generation behind them?

The NBA is too much like a pick up game I can play in my backyard, there is very little strategy involved and since there is no hitting, I find it kinda boring, no brains, no brawn, ballet with a ball..yay!

Add in College Basketball has be ruined, there is -0- reason to watch ANY college basketball game until the last 8 games and they just about ruined a once fine sport.

1 and done means “student athletes” attend one semester of classes and sign up for second semester then off to the NBA..the NCAA is the NBA’s minor league now..and what is worse, some College coaches are so sleezy they get paid, ruin a program, then are hired by a different program and leave the old one on Probation whilst they pocket millions at a new school.

rant/off

Why don’t they learn to to play the game?

At the pro level the ability to make a jumper is gone, as is any pretense to be able to pass. If it isn’t a slamma-jamma-uma, they can’t do it.

It’s amazing how NBA and NFL Players always “give back to the community” yet the communities that they give back to always look the same in the end, drug infested rat holes.
