Race became an issue in the Democratic primary for governor today.
Farouk Shami, the millionaire hair care products maker who's running, said he doesn't find many white people willing to work, so he says he hires Hispanics and blacks instead.
He made the comments responding to a question about whether the state should crack down on employers hiring illegal immigrants.

This idiot turns an economic argument into a racist diatribe. If they enforced the laws that exist and stopped hiring underpaid illegals, then the price paid for labor would rise to clear the market and attract more participants seeking work. He is making money on a Smugglers Profit and claiming it is because white people don’t want to work in factories. He’s channeling Rev Wright and Barack, scary ignorant.
On the spur of the moment I had my hair done at the mall back in November. They tried to sell me the chi iron. It was so expensive!!! I declined. Now I'm glad I did. Just now I checked their website and they only sell conair irons. They must have dropped his irons.
Guys like him create working conditions that illegals will tolerate but natives won’t. A white guy I was talking to was a roofer, but he kept getting jobs where the boss wasmore and more indifferent to the welfare of the worker. In the heat, for instance, would leave a single container for the whole crew for the whole day. So they had to bring their own water. Plus often he would be the only one who spoke English, so it was hard to get help on some tasks. Likewise, he fond it hard to train novices on work that had to be done, or get them to redo botched work, as the strawboss would be gone hours at a time since he was handling several jobs.
With those credentials, he's got the Travis county vote locked.
I find the quality of workmanship has gone down. I have a hard time finding ONE person to do a job. Usually it's hire one person and then another and another to either fix what the first person did, or finish their job. They show up when they feel like it but when it comes to being paid, they show up daily.
I thought the problem was me, till I spoke with someone who was looking at my work. He said people are no longer proud of their work like they were in the old days. Today it's a throw away society, nothing is made to last. It's all done for the quick buck.

I don't believe for a minute that she was 'set up'- but what if she was? At least we got a deal-breaker bit of info that could save us from disaster. Putting up 'truther' Medina against the Democratic candidate would be suicide.
“That's not the question I heard,” Medina said. She said she thought he was asking about whether citizens should question their government. SAY WHAT?? How plain did Beck have to make it? It was a simple question; do you or do you not believe our government was responsible for 9/11?? All she had to do- as any rational, sane person would do- is answer a simple 'no'.
This idea that Beck (or anybody else) sabotaged Medina is absurd. If you can’t answer “did the govt have anything to do with the 9/11 attacks?” you're not be fit to run for dogcatcher.
For God's sake, have any of you really looked into her platform- her background? Has this woman even been vetted?
She wants legalized drugs.
She backs gay marriage.
She has not spoken to her elderly parents for YEARS. They had to find out she was runing for governor of Texas by reading the newspaper!

I don't believe for one minute Medina's propaganda about wanting to strengthen the border! La Raza probably has her in their back pocket!
Glenn Beck has once again helped the tea-party stay in the Republican mainstreamby by weeding out dangerous fringe thinkers like Medina.
Medina is NOT representative of the Tea Party movement. She USED them- latched herself on to them. She’s a hard core Libertarian who has realized that the Libertarian Party will never win anything and that the only possible way to get herself into office is to do what Ron Paul did and wrap herself in the Republican cloak in hopes that it will fool enough of the voters enough of the time. Thank God Glen Beck outed her in time.
Retrieve your sombrero from the ring and go home Medina. You're Texas toast.

That has been my experience too. Black people who work hard and discipline their children are often more conservative than white people and they don’t turn their back on others just because they are not black.
Imagine a white guy saying he’ll only hire white people because blacks and Hispanics are too lazy to work.
Meanwhile, this tidbit of obvious racism is hidden away.
And newspapers wonder why their circulation continues to go down.
