Was the NLRB nominee one of them?

The one who wants to mandate unionism?

Baltimore and now this. The GOP is a bunch of cowards. This kind of crap drives the Tea Party people further away from the GOP.

So what is the resulting difference of “voting” these people in now or letting him sneak them in the back door later? A huge difference ... now the dumb Republicans have caved again, Obama looks good to have “picked people who could be given the job” and the Republicans have agreed with him. Had they said “up yours, Sir” then Obama would have been nailed in the press for “sneaking them in the back door during the recess” .. typically a Democrat-type move today! Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest ... The Republican Party is a joke. If you contribute to these jerks, YOU are part of the problem!

Did they cut a deal NOT to block some if some just go away? I could see that happening. If they didn’t get anything for folding many of them may becoming TOAST on Nov!

Mitch the Bitch screws us again. We need fewer gentlemen and more bombthrowers running the Senate for us. Bob Dole was a nice guy but terribly ineffective, and you saw how respectful George Mitchell was towards him >sarc

When the president makes recess appointments without senate approval, are these then permanent or good only during the recess? Any one know this?

If the recess appointments are permanent, what is the sense in holding them up before recess? If temporary, senators can fight them after the recess.

“Mitch, this is unprecedented,” the president said...

"Unprecedented"??? How about the Rats refusing to even hold confirmation hearings for ANY of Bush's appointees in what, 8 years!

It's amazing how Rats always find a word or phrase that multiplies their outrages into grinning rape.

A senior Senate Republican leadership aide said: "We cleared something like 35 nominees before the last recess, too. That’s what happens before a recess. This isn’t because anyone blinked." According to an administration account, the president told McConnell that he was holding up an extraordinary number of appointments. McConnell replied that the Democrats did the same thing when President George W. Bush was in office. Obama disagreed, saying that when Bush made his first recess appointments, a handful of nominees had been waiting for more than a month. Obama had more than 60 waiting.

What a nothing story, designed to invent a "win" for Obama.

That his media pals are THIS desperate says more than the article and the deceptive headline.

The Dems had no problem denying Bush appointments. Look what they did to John Bolton who was a recess appointment. Let Obama make the recess appointments. In a year we may have control of Congress.

So they get their up-or-down vote.

Does that necessarily mean they’re all an automatic shoo-in?

Recess appointments are ALWAYS preferable to confirmations. They get 1 year, have “acting” in their titles, and lack some financial and other benefits due to their reduced stature. It NEVER makes sense to give in on this. The Dems made Bush recess in John Bolton and many others. Make King Hussein do the same here!
