Brokaw's Bad Memory: Impeachment Was 'Initiated' Against Clinton
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 02/11/2010 5:21:24 PM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

We're not looking to give Bill Clinton a hard time on a day when he's undergone heart surgery. But our forbearance doesn't extend to Tom Brokaw when he misstates history . . .

On this evening's Hardball, responding to Chris Matthews' question as to what motivates Clinton nowadays, Brokaw surmised that he is trying to improve his place in history given that, as president, impeachment proceedings had been "initiated" against him.

Initiated?

Initiated and successfully completed.

I cannot say what I think of the impeached former President, but will urge everyone to remember this:

There are these brief moments of insanity when I almost feel nostalgic for Bill Clinton, because what we have in the White House now is so much worse.

"Impeached and disbarred. "

And fined. Don't forget $25K in civil fines, to say nothing of the $800K+ settlement with Paula whatshername.

I can understand that. I certainly don’t miss him but he was a heck of a lot better than who we have in there now.

For his own benefit he sold us out to the foreigners. Not that he was the only one, unfortunately.

Clinon sold MIRV technology to the Chinese (the ability to nuke several cities with one missile) and said America had too much power in the world. He was just as bad as Obama.

My very liberal minister said from the pulpit, that clinton had been “found innocent” when he in fact had been found guilty but not removed from office. It made me so mad.

No. In other words he was indicted but not convicted.

Clinton was impeached for committing a FELONY while in office.

He perjured himself.

When scoffed at by by liberal acquaintances I ask them if they are entitled to the truth in a court of law. I frame it as a death penalty question. I put them on trial, wrongly accused, and I commit perjury to get them convicted are they OK with that....you should see their heads explode.

I meant the impeachment, not the criminal charges that resulted in having his license to practice law lifted.

No. In other words he was indicted but not convicted.

Or could you say that he was impeached (indicted) but not convicted?

BO’s a piker compared to Clinton.

Even if the true history of the Clinton's were written, the American people would still think it had to be fiction because that level of corruption couldn't possibly have gone unreported at the time.

What annoyed me so much about that whole Jones suit was that the most powerful man in the world used that power to try to keep an ordinary American citizen from having her day in court. Well, she sure did get her day !!
