LAKE WORTH, Fla. (NBC) -- A Florida family's Golden Retriever is being called a canine hero, while the family's cat should probably be sent to the "dog house."

Bubba, the retriever, started barking when flames erupted inside the Lake Worth duplex just before midnight.

It started in the front portion of the home, where Saundra Frazer had fallen asleep.

Charles McCauley, who lives in the back of the home with his girlfriend, also heard the barking and came running into the front room where he saw Saundra trying to extinguish the flames with a blanket.

It had to be the cat. Dogs don’t lie.

Reminds me of a Christmas decoration we have (don’t ask me what it’s got to do with Christmas though!)

It says:

Beware of the Dog (And Don’t Trust the Cat)

LOL!

I think the dog did it. They are clumsier and knock into things. And those tails can be wielded like a club. Cats daintily move around objects, and seldom knock them over. I reiterate, the dog did it. Send in Inspector Clouseau.

The candle was trying to commit suicide.

The dog and cat were trying to stop it, but alas, it was not to be. The remains were cremated on the spot.

I was going to say that the dog probably actually started it, and tried to blame it on the cat.

My cat knocked over the candle but it was on one of those warmer things. The dogs chased him & it was a BIG mess, wax all over the table & floor. I don't leave a burning candle around animals & never if I am going to sleep.
