Posted on 02/11/2010 8:26:49 AM PST by BornToBeAmerican

Who listened to Debra Medina on Beck and came away disgusted. She basically admitted that she is a 911 Truther.

Her run has ended

"I'd much rather she give the answer she did then she lies, says a quick "No, of course not" and we discover later that she does indeed harbor the idea that somehow the government of the United States was complicit in the 9/11 attack."

I agree with that statement. But what I would appreciate more than all of those options is that she say it's crazy and mean it. But yes, if I had a choice, I'd always rather my Governor be truthful AND sane. We just don't seem to have that option in this race.

For starters look up Debra Medina's column 'Latinos and the GOP'

'It’s a shame isn’t it, that Republicans continue to ignore Hispanics especially here in Texas?' Debra Medina

'Ignore them', Mrs Medina? Since when? What more do you want? Or shouldn't we ask?

Medina ad:

“Who is going to think more about Latino families? Rick Perry, Kay Bailey Hutchison or me, who has a Latino family?” (Medina’s cultural heritage is German and Bohemian.)

She told a colleague last month in an e-mail. “Being married, however, to someone with a Mexican American heritage, I certainly embrace the culture.” But before she explained that, she told my colleage, who had asked her whether she considers herself Latina: “I’d not consider myself anything other than a wife and mother, a nurse and a patriot. I believe we too often get into race when it’s immaterial.”

No, Thanks, Mrs Medina.

She is also running Spanish ads. Hello Mrs.Medina! If they cannot speak English then they have no business voting IMO. When they learn English then let them vote. Assimilate. Learn English. Appreciate all America gives you.

So I’m sure she is blowing a lot of hot air just like Obama did just to get elected. Running those ads and saying what she has, tells me the border issue is just a try to get votes for herself.

Medina is about as qualified to be Governor as zero was to be President- want to re-visit how that is working out? She's a Libertarian running on the Republican ticket. She is supported by the Ron Paul worship crowd and she herself has acted in the Ron Paul worship capacity. She has demonstrated a lack of knowledge about Texas law and current ballot initiatives.

No, thanks, I’ll stick with ‘ol RINO Perry. Texas has remained in better shape than almost any if not all of the states in the union under Perry's watch. As someone said, 'he's the devil we know'.

The motly crew running for governor is laughable; a MUSLIM, a trecherous RINO woman* (Hutchison) and a woman with questionable loyalties

*Feds Have Built Only 32 Miles of 700 Mile Double-Border Fence Originally Mandated by Congress “One reason DHS has been able to do this is an amendment that Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R.-Texas) slipped into an omnibus appropriations bill that Congress passed on December 18, 2007. Hutchison’s amendment put a loophole in the fence law that allowed the secretary of Homeland Security not to build the fence Congress had mandated the year before.”

>> If she would have said NO, then she would have alienated anyone who does believe the Feds had a role in 911.

Why wouldn’t anyone want to alienate those people?

>> Then, all of you Perry supporters would be crawling out of the baseboards and condemning her for that.

The question isn’t how Perry supporters would’ve responded ... the question is how her [former] supporters ARE responding (like rats on the Titanic). If she had answered as you point out above, she wouldn’t have won over people who already supported Perry, but she’d have avoided the mass exodus.

The number of Perry supporters has jumped significantly in the last hour or so ... precisely because Medina is an idiot.

The scary thing is this happened pretty late in the campaign

That's because the two debates (I watched both) were so poorly run. Medina never got any tough questions. And the panel doing the questioning in the second debate were worthless, asking stupid things that had nothing to do with anything. The second one was not a debate at all. A debate is between candidates. That debate was between the questioners and a candidate.

This is where the question should have been put to Medina about her views on 9-11 truthers, and my bet is she is in the antiwar crowd too, but no one has ever asked her that either. She also believes in legalizing drugs but that is on the quiet too.

Ok, El Humbo.

Now get on over to the Happy Birthday Sarah! thread, which she'll never see, and post a nice message to person you've never met.

Not really. Every political system selects for some type of person; representative government selects for demagogues, hucksters, and power-hungry narcissists. No psychologically healthy person seeks to wield the kind of power over others our elected officials do; therefore, anyone running for office is by definition unfit to be elected. (This is one of the many reasons I am a monarchist.) Once you realize that our system of voting guarantees us a government of used-car salesmen, voting becomes less painful.

Governor Hairdo isn’t my choice for the office. I was behind Medina until today. But given her spectacular political suicide on national radio, I can no longer support her. It’s back to the lesser-of-two-evils for me come election time... and that means four more years of the ‘Do.

Yes, that’s why I chose that term. I personally don’t believe there are any Conservative Democrats, just Democrats who pretend to be somewhat conservative in order to get elected. That is what White is going to do.

To be honest, I much prefer his TV show than his radio show. I also would prefer a few less theatrics's.

You're right ... she's a LOON. < /sarc>

I mean, just look at Media's stance on the BIG issues that Texans care about the most:

Eliminate property tax: We must eliminate property tax in Texas. We can fund necessary government services more efficiently and fairly using a broader based sales tax. Eliminating property tax and deriving that revenue from a sales tax will mean a $3 billion increase in net personal income in Texas and will add 125,000-175,000 new jobs.

Protect gun ownership: Protecting freedom requires that the people be well armed. Government cannot protect us from violence, we must defend ourselves. Texans must not compromise and must not surrender their right to keep and bear arms. We must not only nullify federal laws that threaten that right but encourage citizens to be, as Madison encouraged, “trained to arms, as that is the best and most natural defense of a free country.”

Secure our border: Texas must promote healthy immigration and trade through the legal ports of entry. We cannot wait on Washington D.C. to act. As governor I will make addressing illegal immigration and promoting sovereignty a top priority.

Restore Sovereignty: The U.S. Constitution not only protects citizens’ freedoms in the Bill of Rights, it also divides power between the federal and state governments and ultimately reserves final authority for the people themselves. Texas must stop the over reaching federal government and nullify federal mandates in agriculture, energy, education, healthcare, industry, and any other areas D.C. is not granted authority by the Constitution.

Crazy ... just batsh!t crazy !! < /sarc>

I heard it too...

..I was agreeing with much she said-(didn't hear the beginning of interview)

....until Glenn asked her the 'truther' question, and IMO she blew it, bigtime.

Let your YES be YES and your NO be NO....

..I'm tired of the fuzzy answers and hers was the fuzziest!

This website provides responsible criticism of the 9/11 Commission Report by senior military, intelligence and government officials. It provides experienced professional opinions about the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

When a bunch of FReepers decide they know more than hundreds of senior military, intelligence and government officials, many of whom are professional pilots, I wonder what's going on here?

Why are you folks furthering the cover-up of the 9/11 Commission Report? Are you afraid of the truth?

If she’ll buy into the truthers, she’ll buy into anything. She cannot be Governor.

What worries me now is that once the MSM gets their arms around this, they’ll use it like a boat anchor around the neck of the entire tea party movement, and especially Sarah Palin’s involvement with the tea party. Bank on it.

Don't muddy the waters by calling us "anti-birthers" if we are opposed to Medina for election strategery reasons rather than being opposed to her as a "birther".

Sarah is for Perry........plus I have long hoped that the insipid Breck Girl would gracefully retire.

These are good enough reasons for me to support Perry and to urge conservatives to think politically and unite behind a single candidate for a change.

Haha. Brave, my ass.

Gladly we shall never know how much damage she could’ve done to the images of Texas, the Tea Party movement, or conservatism generally. She’s toast ... and she deserves to be toast.

Yes we can question whether our government did everything in their power to stop 9/11, those are valid questions.

But it’s a whole other kettle of fish to suggest that our government was complicit in the attacks.
