Interview with Sarah Palin (Palin *NOT* for Amnesty)
Univision ^ | October 26, 2008 | Univision

To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
I do because I understand why people would want to be in America. To seek the safety and prosperity, the opportunities, the health that is here. It is so important that yes, people follow the rules so that people can be treated equally and fairly in this country.

Do you not want any of these people to become citizens?
Are you willing to pack them into trains and send them
back?

You're quoting an interview done when she was McCain's VP candidate in 2008. Her answer was following his positions, which was her job to do.

Absolutely negative, soldier. That's a no-go! It would have been her job as an American (which comes first before politics) to say, "This is where I disagree with John. Although we are on the same team, some of our opinions differ. So, although John is for amnesty, I am not. So, if he dies while in office, I will adamantly oppose amnesty for those who never belonged in our country and who would turn our country into another socialist country."

Oops. I didn't know there was a second page, my spanish is a little rusty.

I did notice she said this:

Do you then favor an amnesty for the 12 or 13 million undocumented immigrants? No, I do not. I do not.
Like all politicians, she does not understand the deportation issue.

Enforce all the laws concerning illegal aliens in the USA and those concerning new entrants, and self deportation will take most of them back to Mexico

Their rhetoric is identical, and they ran as a ticket. You'd be crazy to ignore that.

Yeah, CASED CLOSED, then, eh?

I would presume you realize McCain and his positions are clearly owned - including the issue of illegals; Palin NOT. Ergo, let's not presume Palin is McCain's political caddy. They already bump heads on a number of positions.

We all hope Palin (whether she runs or not) knows to advocate the constitutional/right thing regarding addressing the illegal squatters.

I live in San Diego and 20 miles north of the largest and busiest border crossing in the world, San Diego - Tijuana, Mexico.
I know what the Illegal situation is first hand and one
of the reasons I support Sarah Palin

Would you make a burglar a member of your family because it's too hard to deal with them according to the law?

Well, at least we know why you are lying about the contents of this interview.

I'm lying? I didn't paraphrase this interview, I just posted it. It's 100% her own words, zero percent mine. So you read what SHE said and then decide.

There are other alternatives to a “pathway to citizenship (amnesty)” besides mass deportation. The Center for Immigration Studies and NumbersUSA, for instance, advocate “immigration attrition,” the notion that if you remove incentives and accomodations for illegal aliens, they’ll go home. Specific parts of such a platform include:

* E-Verify/SAVE, a program which checks I-9 employment verifications against the Social Security database to prevent identity theft by new hires.

* End “anchor babies,” reversing legislation which grants U.S citizenship automatically to the children of illegal aliens. (Citizenship is constitutionally granted only when the children are born under the color of law.)

* End chain migration, wherein once one person is legalized, they can in turn import all their relatives, including in-laws.

* Deny non-essential benefits, such as welfare, SSI, unemployment insurance

Measures such as these are estimated by CIS to be able to reduce the illegal immigrant population by half within five years.

A: "PALIN: NO, I DO NOT."
I wonder what those "code words" mean?

Where are the Navajo Windtalkers when we need them?? I'm stumped ;-)

Anyone who pays attention to politics is aware of this interview, which came when she was part of McCain’s ticket. This interview was set up by Nicolle Wallace who, at best is an idiot.

Why not leave investigating to people who know how to investigate and follow politics more closely than you do?

By the way, whom do you support for 2012?

No one who knows this issue and cares about it can ignore rhetoric that includes phrases like “pathway to citizenship,” and clearly leaves the implication that most of the millions who have crossed our borders illegally are going to be allowed to stay here.

Bzzzzzztttttt!

Wrong answer.

Hopefully she was only saying that to appease McCain.

This was a couple of years ago.

Palin: we need to close the borders. They are called illegal aliens for a reason and if they are not going to follow the rules they should not be in our country.

It’s pretty simple I ratched that one down to the simple answer because its an easier answer than some politicians want it to make it be. you close the borders. You get more agressive about cracking down on the illegal aliens and we take it serious what our border patrol officers are trying to do

December 2009
Lars Larson radio talk show

LARS: The amnesty proposal that was defeated in Congress — in your view, was that amnesty for illegals and would you back amnesty for a path to citizenship, as the current president calls it?

SARAH PALIN: No, I’m not for amnesty. Let’s ratchet this down quite simply to remember what we’re referring to. Illegal aliens are called “illegal” for a reason. We need to secure our borders and I am not for amnesty.

And there are humane ways to deal with the 11-13 million illegal aliens who are in our country right now, but if they’re not going to follow the rules, they need to get out.

You're quoting an interview done when she was McCain's VP candidate in 2008. Her answer was following his positions, which was her job to do

Then she put aside her own convictions opposing amnesty for illegals for McAmnesty? Party over principle is not a ringing endorsement.

Since then, she's given numerous interviews where she makes it clear she does not support McCain's 2008 campaign points, and she says multiple times she is against illegal immigration.

Oh I see. She was against amnesty, before she was for amnesty while McAmnesty's running mate, only to oppose amnesty after the 2008 elections.

Where does she stand now that she is once again supporting McAmnesty? Is it her job to oppose a more conservative candidate in support of MacAmnesty?

See post #57, post #33 and read the entire October 2008 interview if you can still find it. No, she didn't use the word "handful", but that's what she means if you weigh the other quotes.

McCain, on the other hand, doesn't even want to exclude criminals from a blanket amnesty based on his actual vote on the Cornyn amendment. This is covered in a Michele Malkin column.

Get a grip, many of these people are hard working families,
Why deny them a chance at citizenship?

Remember we are talking about 12 MILLION people!

Do you think this story is phony? I hope so. I am so sick of dealing with politicians of the Obama kind.

Thanks for the information. I cannot support a third party candidacy, however.

I agree with the platform, as general as it is in some areas, but at this time I cannot support it as I see that as clearing a pathway to the leftists to take office.

Again, what does that mean? What are these "humane ways"? What rules? If they follow these unspoken "rules," they get to stay, right?
