NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Ford(F Quote) has finally found a major vulnerability in Toyota's(TM Quote) products -- and it clearly isn't willing to let the opportunity slip away. Following Toyota's two massive recalls, Ford is now attempting to grow sales with new commercials taking on Toyota. The commercials are part of Ford's "Spread the Word" campaign, which was launched on Jan. 12. Each of them feature Mike Rowe, host of Discovery Channel's Dirty Jobs, speaking to ordinary people in various settings about Ford vehicles. Rowe "spreads the word" at a gas station, in a coffee shop and at a school. In the school scene, Rowe finds a group of students at a library and quietly lets them know that "Ford has quality that can't be beat by Honda or Toyota."

Weren’t alot of these Toyotas built in the S. US?
2 F150s in my driveway.
Lies!
do a search here “Ford Foundation” and see if you still want a Ford
Mike Rowe is a great spokesman
People like him he has charisma. Not many people have genuine charisma but Mike Rowe does.
They didn't, and don't, walk on water.
What they did do was to fully embrace quality control principles that work. W. Edwards Deming was mostly blown off here in the US, but embraced as a hero in Japan.
How'd THAT one work out?
Americans had to learn about quality from the Japanese. When GM started Saturn, and wanted to build high-quality cars, they took apart Japanese cars and studied them.
Ford has a recall of it’s own right now on Ford trucks...the airbags deploy w/out a reason.

Toyota builds 12 different vehicles in the United States. This is not about Toyota vs. Ford, this is about the UAW vs. the non-union workforce. The U.S. Government has taken sides and is waging war against the non-union workforce.
Hmm.. I seem to remember Ford having a serious problem with their cruise control modules in the late 80’s where the vehicles would immediately accelerate for not reason. I also seem to remember something about exploding tires on Explorers ...

That is exactly what this is about. Nothing more, nothing less.
Ford found it’s stride when it told Obama to stuff it.
“Werent alot of these Toyotas built in the S. US?”
...yes...and that was Iacocca’s point...they built brand spanking new factories that were OSHA compliant, and hired a work force of young people....meanwhile, he was trying to make cars with older workers in a patched up plant...he believed that in time the Jananese would start to experiance the same problems as Detroit....looks like his prediction is coming true.
After what the “Big 3” did to Tucker I say “Let ‘em crash”!
Sure it does! They both say "Ford", man! That PROVES it! ;-)
I currently own two Fords - an Explorer and a Fusion.
I love them both. Great vehicles.
The Ford Foundation is not operated by Ford Motor Company.
Exactly.
Years ago Iacocca should’ve seen the US auto collapse coming.
Good idea. Oh, and I seem to remember a number of Ford recalls in the past. In any case it is shortsighted on Ford’s part because sure as God made little red apples there are recalls in its future. That goes for all car companies. It is impossible to make a product as complicated as a car—in the quantities the automakers do—perfectly.
Used to be a Ford guy as were three of my four sons. All of us are buying different brands now because of serious fit, finish and performance problems. And I’m taking about Fords made within the last 8 years. Last Ford I owned was a 2007 Ranger.
