Sorry to be a wet blanket, but someone has to do it.
The Miss Me Yet? billboard (inspired by Jonathan Maneys t-shirts) is cute. But lets not get carried away with nostalgia.
President Bush put America on the proper war footing after 9/11 and deserves much credit for doing so, but he also:
1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;
2) massively expanded the federal role in education;
3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;
4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;
5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;
6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;
7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;
8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;
9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words:
Ive abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system. George W. Bush
No, I dont miss having a corporate socialist Republican in the White House any more than I like having a corporate socialist Democrat in the White House now.
Well this one is laughable and I have to take issue. There was no boom. It was a massive credit expansion (enabled by Greenspan) followed by a massive credit contraction (when interest rates had to be raised) leaving little but debt and misery behind. If Bush had fostered a booming economy then McCain would have won 2008 in a landslide. In fact the crappy economy is what killed any chances of McCain winning. And I know a huge number of freepers here know this is true because I read their posts. The great Bush economic legacy could not nor cannot be sold. I wish it were true and Republicans won 2008 in a landslide (maybe not McCain) but it is complete fantasy.
Bush pushed the Homeownership for minorites with bad credit (many were illegals) so he is not of the hook there blaming that mess on others.
I do really like the SCOTUS picks, that was the highlight of his presidency. So far I like their decisions.
Really?
You brought it up clown.
I called you on it.
You ran for the hills.
At first I thought you were a intelligent but misguided poster.
Now I just think you're FOS.
Regards. :-}
Good analogy, woofie. :)
RE :”Liberals don’t believe in first amendment rights for conservatives.”
That is why you have a history of crying to the moderators about posts and freepers you dont like(so far you havent got me removed) . You must have loved the kids in your class that ratted on the others, the taddle-tail cry-babies.
As to the homeownsership thing with fannie and freddie, he's on record as trying hard to regulate it (brought it up 11 different times), and was unfortunately defeated and demogogued by Barnie and Chuckie.
I also think you are short selling what happened when all that money was pulled out in those few hours that fall. It seems the economy was targeted by someone, and that rebounded to Obama's benefit. McCain was too bad a candidate and unable to wrap that around Bambi's neck as he should have.
Crossed posts.......
I will agree with you about Bush and his Sept 11 response. Almost everyone but die-hard libs were glad he was president at the time.
On the housing bubble there is just too much out there put out by Bush administration that took credit for their involvement in risky home loans at the time, just one example was mailed to me here : Speaker Hastert Touts Law Closing the Homeownership Gap for Minorities (gets rid of downpayment requirements for those with bad credit) 2003 article
I would not be realistic if I didnt point out that Republicans were not blameless. Because they had the WH, they got all the blame for it leading to another disasterous 2008 election, as Democrats will get the blame this year and hopefully again in 2012.
No problem. I find that it keeps me grounded.
“You ran for the hills.”
I provided you one reference. Do you need someone to hold your hand using Google? The report mentioned is (U), so even you can read it.
“At first I thought you were a intelligent but misguided poster.”
“Misguided” is thinking that a liberal agenda is conservative because a Republican did it.
“Now I just think you’re FOS.”
Sorry, sonny. I don’t have brown eyes.
My business is in the industrial sector. After 9-11 we had our worst year, as did many businesses. From 2003 through 2008 we had our best years as a company. Everyone working lots of overtime as well. We had nothing to do with the housing market. Check the earnings of industrial entities like Eaton Corp, Rockwell, GE industrial, Boeing, etc during that time.
You're neither clever, nor rotten enough to bother the mods with.
So set aside the delusions of grandeur - you are not worth bothering the mods with your insipid liberal commentary. Your words speak for themselves.
Every legitimate conservative on this board knows exactly who and what you are, including the owner (as cited above).
(btw, it's "tattle tale" - you know, like someone who pings his buddies when he posts to an individual? Someone like you. :)
I concur. (A little legalistic lingo since the subject is the SCOTUS)
If you are successful in getting me banned, many freepers here (some others who you have threatened too) already know about your history of threatening freepers you diagree with, like me!
The ‘free’ should mean free to disagree with you.
Hi all...another barn burner going on, I see. Hope y’all are keeping your heads down...lots of lead flying about here...
I’ll say one thing for Bush:
I didn’t go to bed every night worrying that the new “Ghetto Gestapo” would do the 4am Flashbang Boogiewoogie on my house just because I posted something critical. I didn’t worry about a bulldyke running Homeland Security that sees me and other American Citizens as more of a threat than the shrieking diaper-headed jihadis with phlegm-clogged vocal chords and dynamite belts yelling “Death To Americans” in the name of their satanic death cult...
And he did put two Conservatives on the SCOTUS, with long-reaching effects - which may, in the long run, prove more of an undoing to the lefty takeover than anything W personally did as Chief Exec.
And in the Against Bush Category:
He didn’t push back on the lefties when needed to - he let them keep running roughshod over us. Reagan got in their face and went after them with a vengeance because he hated socialism/communism with a passion. We need MORE of that and less of the “Compassionate conservative” nonsense (code for “moderate”, in my opinion). Hell, we’re ALL compassionate to our fellow man when its needed and warranted; but being compassionate does NOT mean being stupid when it comes to dealing with the enemy and his intentions to destroy us and our society.
He didn’t shut down and seal off the border to protect American citizens from an illegal invasion, as he was Constitutionally required to do. Illegal Mexican criminal gangs murder more American citizens than the Muslims have so far done and undermine our system with long-range damage.
Thre’s other things as well, such as promising to sign the Assault Weapon Ban II if it got to his desk...But...
...Dubya isn’t President anymore, and it’s kind of moot now.
One of the earlier posts said that all Presidents since Reagan have been progressively worse; I tend to agree, because Reagan has become the Gold Standard for Americanism, patriotism, and conservative principles. Anyone compared to Ronnie will come up short. And this half-assed communist podunk clown we have now is by far the worst I can remember.
Arguing over the past doesn’t change it; recognizing what got us here, what went wrong, and preventing it from happening again by finding and electing Conservative Americans WILL change it.
We have a more pressing threat against us. I think we should shift focus there. Whatever personal differences we have out here, remember that the other side HATES US ALL equally and would gladly see us ALL dead and rotting. There’s a Makarov bullet for ALL of our screennames in the ordnance locker of this current administration and their socialist one-worlder buddies across the globe, if they think they can get away with it.
Don’t really want to argue with anyone on it; just my two cents in response to the ping.
We’re all on the same team. Stay well.
LFOD
The fact that the Bush version had a fraction of the price tag the Democrat version had, that its run thru the private sector and is consistently under budget is never considered or acknowledged by the Bush bashers who have acquired group amnesia and are becoming increasingly tiresome.
Hey, you have to take sides. You cant take both sides :)
No-one will get mad at you LOL
Let me know when I’m supposed to laugh.
I can't even state a simple joke without a whole group of people jumping on me, posting stupid pictures, and wanting me banned.
I don't attack people because I disagree with them.
I would imagine we agree on MOST things.
