Sorry to be a wet blanket, but someone has to do it.

The “Miss Me Yet?” billboard (inspired by Jonathan Maney’s t-shirts) is cute. But let’s not get carried away with nostalgia.

President Bush put America on the proper war footing after 9/11 and deserves much credit for doing so, but he also:

1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;

2) massively expanded the federal role in education;

3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;

4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;

5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;

6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;

7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;

8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;

9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words:

“I’ve abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system.” – George W. Bush

No, I don’t miss having a corporate socialist Republican in the White House any more than I like having a corporate socialist Democrat in the White House now.

Yes. I abandoned him when abundantely clear he was a flaming lib - sometime in 2004, I think, is when I finally couldn’t come up with rationalizations for the man’s agenda.

But since you mention it, she did rather loudly defend FDR’s unconstitutional internment of Japanese Americans during WWII. Not saying that makes her a liberal, but it’s certainly not a conservative stance.

Then you are a major part of the problem because in 2004 Bush had the deficits under control and on the way to balance. because people like you ceased supporting Bush he lost leverage and had to spend all his political capital on funding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Were you against the surge in Iraq as well?

The Saudis are the principal funders of Jihad. Even the wife of “Bandar Bush” was a terroristm donor. The Bush Administration pressured Israel to admit Hamas to the PA elections.

The internment of the Japanese-Americans was after the attack on Pearl Harbor devastating our Fleet--Jap planes were trying to attack the West Coast, German U-boats prowling the waters on the East Coast, saboteurs coming over the border from Canada, and assorted pro-Nazi Americans all thru America. Franklin D Roosevelt declared Martial Law and that meant all Japanese-americans in the US were interned for the duration. In that crippled condition with 2 enemies out to destroy and conquer us, we could take no chances. No, it wasn[t nice. There are a whole lot of things that ain't "nice" in a war!

Just maybe if George Bush had any understanding of "an enemy within", plus the moxie he was sorely lacking, he might well have declared ML after 9/11 ----plus a few other moves, other than a PC war to change hearts & minds, pfftt!

He’d already pushed through liberal government expansions and had started his amnesty push. AMNESTY was what he said he’d spend his political capital on after his reelction. That told me where American citizens stood with him.

Israelis supported Bush by margins of 70-30 even when you and a large majority of Americans abandoned him while he was conducting the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and on jihadists where and when he found them.

And yet when he was abandoned by his COngress, the American people and folks like you he soldiered on and sent more troops to Iraq.
