Sorry to be a wet blanket, but someone has to do it.
The Miss Me Yet? billboard (inspired by Jonathan Maneys t-shirts) is cute. But lets not get carried away with nostalgia.
President Bush put America on the proper war footing after 9/11 and deserves much credit for doing so, but he also:
1) joined with open-borders progressives McCain and Kennedy to try to force shamnesty down our throats;
2) massively expanded the federal role in education;
3) championed the Medicare prescription drug entitlement using phony math;
4) kowtowed to the jihadi-enabling Saudis;
5) stocked DHS with incompetents and cronies;
6) pushed Hillarycare for housing;
7) enabled turncoat Arlen Specter;
8. nominated crony Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court;
9) pre-socialized the economy for Obama by embracing TARP, the auto bailouts, the AIG bailout, and in his own words:
Ive abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system. George W. Bush
No, I dont miss having a corporate socialist Republican in the White House any more than I like having a corporate socialist Democrat in the White House now.
Shaw was a very popular Congressman who was done in by Bush’s policies in Iraq. Have you located those WMDs yet?
Did you all see the Bush “MISS ME YET” billboard in Minnesota that’s been traveling blogs and internet? Well Fox just revealed who put it up.....group of the towns business people joined together and put it up to oppose Obamas failures to help small businesses and rather is hurting them.
“You are correct however in the pointing out that Michelle is displaying signs of BDS by not pointing out the long list of good things that President Bush accomplished.”
(1) Liberals always accuse Conservatives of mental illness. Perhaps it’s projection on their part.
(2) A little good never excuses evil.
And who are "most people?"
(Unsourced hyperbole).
President Bush was the most pro-life President in our history. MOST PEOPLE who are pro-life know that...
Good bye, Mark. And welcome to FR??
And after Health Care, comprehensive immigration reform is next. So I pray former President Bush sits on the side lines and keeps his mouth shut on this particular issue.
Michelle Malkin is generally spot on.
sw
Obama obviously has a lot signing up recently.
I know obammy is making Georgle look like a piker BUT George allowed spending to go way out of hand.
Failed to stop abortion.
etc. etc.
He wasn't alone in that. Shame on him. He deserved to lose.
One of the main reasons we lost the House and Senate in 06 was because of cowards like your Congressman who followed the polls and lost their principles.
He should have stayed the course with the Commander in Chief and his troops.
That's what cowards usually do.
Clay Shaw actually supported the war. Please don’t post if you don’t have your facts right.
Attacking Bush today while a hyper-lib sits in the Oval Office reeks of a spoiled, can’t-have-my-perfect-way loser.
You weren't expecting to much, were you? He stopped abortion funding to the UN, stopped taxpayer funds going to any new fetal stem cells, and stopped partial birth abortion.
How exactly was he supposed to stop all abortion....?
A very popular Congressman in a district that voted for John Kerry. Gotcha.
Have you located those WMDs yet?
Yeah, you and the rest of the idiots who believe that WMD was the end all be all causus belli in Iraq.
It was necessary to destroy the ville in order to save it.
Which liberal? Certainly not me or Michelle Malkin. So just exactly who are you talking about and what makes them a liberal?
(2) A little good never excuses evil.
Again, who is evil?
Clay Shaw also supported the Medicare Drug Benefit. Perhaps the Kerry voters were annoyed because he expanded government?
Reagan was the greatest President of my lifetime (I proudly voted twice for him!!), yet all these things are true. Of course there were mitigating circumstances for each one, but since you ignore them for Bush, maybe you should ignore them for Reagan too.
What Reagan was or did before he took office is irrelevant.
So is whether he had Tip O'Neill for a close friend (I doubt he did, he just didn't go out of his way to antagonize people).
We won the Cold War thanks to Reagan.
You really can't say anything like that about Bush.
I’m a harsh judge of Presidents. Since Coolidge the only passing grade I give is to Reagan.
Hoover/Ike/Nixon/Ford/Bush/Bush all ended up hurting the Republican party.
Judges are big especially the SC and I think they were W. Bush’s only major saving grace. Most of the tax cuts sadly were passed with sunset clauses.
I don’t give much extra credit for “preventing attacks on US soil” cause that’s a basic minimum job requirement. Many freepers extol Truman for winning WW2, that was his minimum job requirement.
As for personal integrity I’d rather have a modern day Calvin Coolidge with a sex and booze addition than the most honorable big government Republican. Maybe that’s just me.
On several issues Bush was the “second best after Reagan” but that says more about the deficiencies of his predecessors.
Bush is a lot like Nixon vis a vis his image. The left hates them both to an extreme degree but that’s not a reason for the right to like them.
Eh, there’s some things I miss about George W. Bush, and some I don’t. Even over and above policy, he and Laura lent a touch of class and grace to the White House that The Kenyan and the First Wookie simply don’t have.
It’s an accurate list of his failings, but remember, on national security he did well overall, and he did give us two good Supreme Court justices. He wasn’t perfect by any means, but he was (and would still be) a damnsight better than The Kenyan.
