Dry run at Detroit airport? “Arabic man” ignores instructions from security guards, part of airport shut down
They thought maybe he didn’t understand English, but he did. So what was he doing? “Security scare closes airport concourse,” from UPI, February 8:

If they ever do a reality show following around TSA workers for a day, it would look EXACTLY like Reno 911.

wonder why the keep targeting Detroit . There is a large Muslim community in the area, seems they would want to avoid harming.

My worry is that while Detroit seems to be the center of concern, something sinister is being planned for elsewhere in the US.

Be Islamic

Ignore airport/airplane rules

Get detained

Collect $millions

[shades of Jesse Jackson’s decades of shakedowns]

"It worked really well. This guy had no place to go," said Michael Conway, airport spokesman.

A laden terrorist would have ignited a bomb inside the secure area of the airport.

Mirandized or not-Mirandized? Guantanamo or not-Guantanamo?

I just flew back from London. as the flight near New York City a disheveled middle eastern looking man started pacing up and down the aisle. He did that all the way to Atlanta. Could be his legs were tired or maybe he was just messing with us. But my sense is that people are watching this crap and on the ready.

When you think about it, these so called “dry runs” are not a dry run but a successful act of terrorism. Operations are disrupted, people are scared by the actions and there is serious ecconomic disruption and out right loss. A so called dry run is an attack.

I don't think these are dry runs. I think they are attempts to invoke excessive reactions by law enforcement or airline employees, and then later sue for discrimination.

I say that, based on the only two Arabic people I've had close dealings with in my professional career -- both of whom have a history of frivolous lawsuits.

Security guards at first thought the man didn't understand English and therefore didn't understand their questions, but when he was taken into custody, he began to speak in English, Conway said.

I had a guy change lanes directly into me (he honked at me as he was doing it). He played like he spoke no English, until the polic ticketed him. Then, he was like Johnny Cochran.

Bolton: Even Severe Sanctions Wont Dissuade Iran From Pursuing Nuclear Weapons

“Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Monday that Iran is set to deliver a “punch” that will stun world powers during this week’s 31st anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

“The Iranian nation, with its unity and God’s grace, will punch the arrogance (Western powers) on the 22nd of Bahman (February 11) in a way that will leave them stunned,” Khamenei, who is also Iran’s commander-in-chief, told a gathering of air force personnel.”

an Arabic man ignored instructions from security guards

I think it was just politically correct arrogance. He knows the left will be here to support him.

Not surprising...

I was just in the Detroit airport last Thursday. I’m not sure ANYONE in that building understands English.

Dry run....or distraction?

There are way too many of these to be dry runs. They seem more like a distraction.
