Is State Department working on getting American Missionaries held in Haiti released? (vanity)

Has anyone heard any news of the State Department working to free the American Baptist Missionaries from prison in Haiti?

AOL reports that 8 of the Americans being held signed a note that was slipped out which states that they fear for their lives. This worries me greatly, given the history of Haiti.

Officially the State Dept is just checking on welfare and say it's a matter for the Haitian judge and courts/

Unofficially, Bill Clinton in his new role to oversee all UN and international aid to Haiti, is said to be working to have all but their “leader” Silsby released.

Many articles indicate Silsby may have been up to no good - and that she knew she was outside the law by trying to round up kids with living parents and take them out of Haiti

Yes, and No. Yes, the Department of State is seeking to have the “missionaries” released into the custody of the United States, but not to free them. The plan is to have them released and for the U.S. Department of Justice to try each of them as human traffickers.
