Tea Party Fireworks: Speaker Rips McCain, Obama, 'Cult of Multiculturalism' (Tancredo slams McCain)

Ex-Rep. Tom Tancredo Suggests 'Civics, Literacy Test' Would Have Foiled Obama's Election; High-Priced National 'Tea Party' Convention Stirs Debate Among Factions.

BY STEVEN PORTNOY & JOHN BERMAN

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Feb. 4, 2010.

The opening-night speaker at first ever National Tea Party Convention ripped into President Obama, Sen. John McCain and "the cult of multiculturalism," asserting that Obama was elected because "we do not have a civics, literacy test before people can vote in this country."

The speaker, former Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., told about 600 delegates in a Nashville, Tenn., ballroom that in the 2008 election, America "put a committed socialist ideologue in the White House ... Barack Hussein Obama."

Tancredo did not stop at the Democratic president -- ripping McCain, R-Ariz., the 2008 Republican presidential nominee, for shaping up to be a repeat of "Bush 1 and Bush 2."

"Thank God John McCain lost the election," he said, voicing his belief that McCain would have presided over big budgets and lacked a tough stand against immigration.

Tancredo served 10 years in the House of Representatives and made a name for himself with his ardent opposition to immigration. He believes the 2008 election served to galvanize the right.

"This is our country," he told the crowd. "Let's take it back."

What we have is the purging of liberals from our party. We want them to go Democrat where they belong. Get McAmnesty— Gramnesty —and their ilk on a rail and get them out of here or we are 3rd party voting our hearts not for some damned compromising POS that wants to ship our jobs over seas and abandon our borders and kill babies and let perverts run a muck in the military and invade some damned sovereign country that hasn’t done a thing to this country.

How insulting was it that the republicans attempted to re-brand John McCain as the, “Maverick for Change”.

I even know a few that bought that poppy-cock hook line and sinker.

The political powers believe the American electorate to be idiots.

Man oh man, I'm getting so freakin cynical about out government.

“The political powers believe the American electorate to be idiots.”

They have a good reason to feel that way. The American electorate put them in power.

I agree with the political powers.

The American electorate are deceived on so many fronts.

It is sad though, most voters do not research the candidates.

Most depend upon the MSM to shape their opinions.

In fact I have read her facebook.
Now, you going to ask me to quote it
chapter and verse?
There is something downright creepy about
the way some PalinPeople follow her.
I actually like her, but this weird obsessive
devotion is disconcerting to say the least.

You take this all personally and are attacking me
for remarking that her support for McCain is a mistake
Grow up.

OUCH!

No biggie.

reasonisfaith has already been told in a previous post that I had changed my mind about Sarah Palin as a Presidential candidate in between the series of posts that were quoted.

I guess a person isn't allowed to do that in reasonisfaith's world.

Of course, reasonisfaith conveniently forgot to leave that little tidbit of information out - since they have their own petty little axe to grind.

Well stated!!!

Americans are finally waking up. It’s great.

We are tired of “waiting” for Washington to do the right thing.

Time to clean house and senate.

Honey, you’re the one that attacked Palin without mentioning McCain. Almost every Palin supporter here on FR, and across the country, likely loathes her stumping for McCain- but still support HER. Why is that so hard for you to grasp?

I didnt have a problem with loans...I have a HUGE problem with Govt leverage buyouts...

Oh, c'mon. I voted for Bush twice - but he was a complete failure economically.

That $700 billion dollar bailout was a travesty - and Tancredo knew it. He also led us to believe that he was voting against it until the day of the vote.

He lost my respect that day in the political arena.

Oh I had issues with him too...mostly on amnesty...

There are a lot of separate TARP issues being rolled up and thrown back at bush as one bundle...

That’s all I’m saying...Obama and the dems have morphed TARP way past it’s intended purpose...

Sarah's past is pretty solid and inline with conservative principles. Pro-life. Pro-RKBA. Low tax. Smaller Government. Constitution. Property Rights. Etc...

I read her book and .... I believe. Know the most telling line in there? It goes like this "I knew I wasn't continuing in politics because of ambition. Ambition DRIVES. Purpose CALLS. It beckons from over the horizon..." Sarah's whole life has been directed by the Lord and that comes through clear as can be, in the book. Know what else tells me she'd be fabulous? The unmitigated terror she inspires in Libtards.

I'm an Agnostic. People who claim to hear voices make me nervous.

I read her book too. Assuming it's not too badly embellished, she really would make an excellent President.

I agree that Obama has outspent Bush, even though Bush was absolutely wreckless.

It all comes down to the Federal government needing to create as much new debt as possible to keep our entire economic system from entering a very major depression.

That's why President Barry has asked for more military spending than Bush ever did. It's one of the easiest ways to create new debt.

This is all not going to end well.

No he didn't. Tancredo endorsed and supported mitt romney and still does, because he's hoping to get on the romney payroll. Tancredo has been all over radio trashing Palin on behalf of his sugar daddy romney from October 2008 forward. F*** tancredo.
