Newser) Moderate Mark Kirk has won Illinois Republican Senate primary, blowing away two conservative opponents backed by tea-party contingents. The congressman has 56% of the vote with more than 82% of precincts reportinggiving him a 37% lead over Patrick Hughes. Analysts predicted that a clear Kirk victory would take much of the steam out of the tea-party movement.
On the Democratic side, the Chicago Tribune reports, state treasurer Alexi Giannoulias looks close to clinching the nomination, setting up a fight with Kirk for the Senate seat vacated by President Obama.

As regards the gay activists, there are already rumors swirling aroung this guy. I hope he doesn’t turn out to be another Tisei or Crowley.

What happened? Its ILLINOIS.
Conservative votes in the party were split.
Nothing more complicated than that.

The Scozzafava wing of Republicans, obviously.

Don’t confuse people with practical suggestions. It’s more fuflling to bluster and bomb asts. The world is going to hell, there’s nothing we can do about it, everyone in Illinois is a tool of the Devil, the sky is falling.

It is probably the most populous county in the world, let alone the country. There are OVER ONE HUNDRED SEPARATE SCHOOL DISTRICTS in this county alone, at least one for every "township" shown on this map. EVERYTHING IN YELLOW is in Cook County:

He was the preferred candidate of the GOP. He had all the newspaper recomendations and Gov. Jim Edgar (still unindicted)put his support to Kirk the jerk.

Absolutely! But we need a candidate to come forward.
If Pat Hughes felt he could have made a difference given more time and more exposure he should give it a shot.
There’s a lot of fed up people in Illinois and I think with $money, endorsements and Tea Party support this state can be resurrected.
C’mon Pat, RUN!!

Illinois sounds just as bad as California, but I'm not giving up any hope of ousting our disastrous junior senator Barbara Boxer, one of the most imbecilic human beings to ever suck oxygen.

Funny, an dear friend of mine just moved out here from California, there are many similarities. I have heard people say that Illinois is "Californicating" :) I think for senator here rather than vote for Mark Kirk a RINO, I will write in Tea Party...I think we need to ruin it for the top guys in the Republican party each time they support a RINO, let the Rat win. BTW, looked at your profile page. I became a Republican in large part because I learned from experience and contemplation that the vast majority of bigotry is from the democrat party. My mother raised me to not judge a person by their color. I do not abide racism and therefore am very against the democrat party. I think what they did and do with their "dependence upon them for survival" is at best sick. At worst it is criminal. In any event right now I am a Tea Party patriot working to take back the Republican Party and restore it to an American party once again.

“Id never vote for him. Id vote 3rd Party.”
Intend on writing in “Tea Party” if a conservative does not run 3rd party. No baby killing liberals, no RINOS! We have to get that message to the national Republican leaders and of course to the Illinois state Republican leadership who think of us as ignorant peasants...

You are absolutely 100% correct on the Democrat Party and its flagrant bigotry.
While listening to the Mark Levin Show earlier this evening, I heard yet another bigoted statement come out of the mouth of none other than Madame Speaker Nancy Pelosi, when (in a clip played from ABC News) she reminisced about FDR's final train ride through Georgia (en route to his final resting place in Hyde Park) at the Democrat Party's winter retreat. In this slobbering statement she said there were all kinds of people out on the tracks, including 'lots of African Americans, or whatever they were called back in those days' (I would advise going to Mark's website if it's been linked to hear the exact quote). But again, we see beneath the phony diversity surface who these people truly are.
