On Monday’s CBS Early Show, co-host Harry Smith introduced a bizarre story designed to show how desperate the situation is for people lacking health insurance: “A California woman has launched a unique online search for a husband. Not for love, but for health care.”

But under Obama”care”, that wouldn’t matter.
Further, some employer health plans have “open enrollment” where if a covered employee gets married, the new spouse can sign up for immediate covereage without penalty for pre-existing conditions, or a minimal waiting period.

Then how do you explain those of us who married our husbands while we were still in highschool or college. There was no bulge in my hubby’s wallet when we got married.

You have no idea how uncomfortable it is to be a witness in a marriage you know is a sham. These are two people that can’t even stand each other. So much so that they live in separate homes.
Do I give hugs and congratulate them? It just didn’t seem appropriate under the circumstances. I felt so dirty afterwards!

Most states have such risk pools and they typically cap rates at 150% of the “standard” rate that would apply to someone of her age/gender. So it would be somewhat more expensive than average coverage, but then again, she would have more than average use etc. High risk pools are a good example of how the “pre-existing condition” problem can be addressed WITHOUT causing an upheaval throughout the rest of the insurance market. Which is exactly why Obama and Dems in Congress don’t like this “Republican” solution.
She should have told them she was an ILLEGAL, after all they get all their health care FREE at any public hospital ER.

This woman is a liar. If she is on COBRA, there is no “gap” and thus no pre-existing condition.
All she needs to do is get a job like the rest of us.
