Jeb Bush is back and some think he's looking presidential
Miami Herald vai McClatchy ^ | Jan. 30, 2010 | Beth Reinhard

MIAMI — When Jeb Bush left office four years ago, his public appearances were as scarce as bi-partisan man hugs.

He didn't want to upstage his successor in the governor's mansion nor his brother in the White House. Instead, he quietly cashed in by joining corporate boards and an elite speakers bureau, penned policy essays and gave infrequent interviews to conservative media.

But in recent months, as the Republican Party of Florida has grappled with a leadership vacuum, Bush's political profile has grown as fast as the national deficit ...

McCain lost the EV by 2-to-1.

Jeb would lose the EV by 3-to-1.

12 years of Bush White House has been more than enough.

The Bushes just keep returning, like a bad habit.

Just when I was hoping this would be a Bush-free year.

If former Gov. Jeb Bush had saved Terri Schiavo I would have moved heaven and earth to get him into the White House. He didn’t, he let her be killed when he could have signed an executive order to stop the forced dehydration and starvation. He’s toast. You couldn’t put a gun to my head and force me to vote for Jeb Bush. If you’ll sacrifice one human being on the road to power then you’ll sacrifice many more human beings along the way.

“I wish the media would quit with all their RINO humping.”

Never. The MSM needs a new RINO to support. McCain is now a loser.

No. No more Bushes for a couple of generations. This isn’t the Roman Republic where a handful of Patrician families monopolized the consulship. No.

Are you saying that the ship that was being retired had not had a successful service life, or that it had not accomplished its mission?

The USS Abraham Lincoln is still in service.

Did Jeb pay for that article to be printed? Hey, what happened to the stellar Jeb & Mitt team that were supposed to revitalize the Republican Party? LOL! What'd they have? One meeting?

Jeb Bush ended his political career when the State of Floriday caused Terri Schiavo to be killed. In March of 2010, that will be 5 years. Jeb and Mitt have no chance at the Presidential nom spot. At least no chance as the Republican nominee.

The USS Abraham Lincoln is still in service.

Yes, thank you for that clarification. It was simply its deployment, which was the longest deployment for a nuclear powered aircraft carrier in history, that was completed and for which the "Mission Accomplished" sign was made. And it was the completion of that mission that was being celebrated when W made his appearance on the ship. As I mentioned to another poster, I recognize my confusion on those details as a timely reminder that I should refresh my memory with a little bit or research before I post a comment based on my memory of the details of an event from several years ago.

Of course, the bottom line is that the "Mission Accomplished" was not about the overall mission in Iraq, but the mission of that ship. And to suggest that Bush was claiming the mission in Iraq was accomplished goes beyond getting a couple of details wrong to the point of deliberate falsehood.

Would like to see Jeb Bush defeat Bill Nelson in 2012. Then he will be on probation to see how he performs in the United States Senate. If he begs off from that contest, he probably will serve as Secretary of Education under the next Republican President.

Jeb is starting to resemble Newt.

Every few months, rumors circulate that Newt might run. Those rumors have circulated since about 2006. Wonder who starts them?

[These guys start them to see how well they go over. So far, rumors of running by either guy have not generated a ground-swell of adoration. Can’t they take the hint?]
