I started a Recall Petition for US Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA). You can view the website at MoveOnMary.org I would like to encourage Alaka, California, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington and Wisconsin to recall their US Senators. Why wait for November? We have started Jan. 4, 2010 and now 2 other States have joined us, New Jersey and Colorado. We are in the process of forming a National Coalition. I hope you join us, and help spread the word.

Moveonmary? Should have named it recallmary.org or kickoutmary.org instead.

We do not have the Constitutional Right to recall a Senator or Congressperson. The Articles of Confederation gave us the Right to Recall, but the Right to Recall was not kept in the Constitution. The power to remove a Senator or Congressperson was left up to their peers in the House and the Senate on whether a person was fit to stay in office.

Not entirely true, explain the recall effort on John Mccain back in 2001.

You can’t recall senators. They’re elected to to 6-year terms, and only one third are up for election each election cycle. LA is stuck with her till 2014.

Although it is not legally enforcable, both of Arizona’s Senators have pledged to honor the results of any recall campaign. McCain would have resigned if he had been recalled but the recall itself would not have removed him.

About McCain...The folks never finished going through the recall process because 9/11 happened in the middle of the recall.

They rightly decided they had more important business at hand. McCain was no longer important, so the effort was dropped. (That was a slap in the face to McCain saying that he wasn’t considered important.)

Various States constitutions have a provision allowing for recall of elected officials at the city, county, state and federal levels. it is up to the individual states not the federal laws. there is a process for petitioning the state voting board and the number of signatures needed is dependent upon 1/4 of the number of votes in the previous election

You didn’t want to first read the Constitution and find out if you could legally do that?

There is nothing in the U.S. Constitution allowing the recall of a Senator or Congressman. And nothing in a state constitution can overrule the U.S. Constitution.

The only legal way you have to recall her occurs in November 2014.

What’s the difference between Obama and a Toyota? A Toyota can be recalled.
