President Barack Obama hosted a pair of Bushes this morning in the Oval Office: former President George H.W. Bush and his son, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush.
Two weeks ago, Jeb's brother, former President George W. Bush, was at the White House talking about Haiti relief with Obama and ex-President Bill Clinton.

Theory rejected.
That is as irrational a post as Ive ever seen on FR
Why would the Bushes have anything whatsoever to do with the Kenyan when he blames everything on Bush and can’t take responsibility for anything
If the Bush’s have any particular agenda, ie; Haiti relief, they would go to Obama, being they have that special right.
Also, from what I’ve seen of the White House menu, prob serves up a pretty good breakfast.
This might be about the Haiti relief.
I somewhat agree.
I really, really don’t like Bush senior.
But, I think the plan is for george p to be the next Bush.
/obvious
How can you be so sure of that? History repeats. Republics last until the people realize they can vote themselves "goodies" from the common treasury. We've long since crossed that bridge.
Wrong Bush son, given the economy. Neil is the one with the banking background - remember Silverado? He’s the one that should be giving advice to Obama.
What have you been drinking?
Obama wants Jeb and H.W. to help him sell a plan to bring 3 million Haitians to Florida and Texas as a humanitarian “necessity”.
Could be.
If you truly can't stand the attitude of what you estimate to be "a vocal few here on FR," then you must have been excruciatingly uncomfortable when America repudiated both the Bushes and Clintons in 1994's fantastick election that finally gave our movement some real momentum. We'd been 46 years wandering in the wilderness of liberalism!!!
I think you better wise up to the fact that the last thing we need in this nation, or even here on FR, is some kind of rehab of our UN-American POTUS by ANY of the "kindler, gentler," Bushes!!!
Oh...how cute...Democratic and Republican Progressives getting together for tea at the Whitehouse....
Let's hear what Charles Krauthammer has to say about this. After all, he's a psychiatrist. |
Need to check those MEDs man!
Consider:
When the McCain-Palin ticket was five points ahead of Obama-Biden in the Gallup poll, President Bush’s Treasury Secretary threatened that the entire financial system would collapse if Congress didn’t pass, and President Bush didn’t sign the $750 billion TARP bailout. President Bush signed TARP, both “traunches”.
Rush Limbaugh has called it “the most successful October surprise in history”. Obama immediately shot ahead of McCain after both candidates supported the TARP bill, McCain reluctantly. McCain has said that’s what cost him the election.
And back in early 2005, after President Bush was re-elected, George H.W. Bush told Larry King that Jeb would make “an outstanding President”. After the results of the 2006 election, in December 2006, President George H.W. Bush broke down in tears as he spoke about his son Jeb to a meeting of Florida legislators. It was clear that he was lamenting the end of his son’s political career.
I do not believe the Bushes are terrible people. But they are politicians, plain and simple. And they came up in the liberal (a.k.a “compassionate conservative”) wing of the Republican Party. The Bush family wants Jeb to be President, period. They are not conservatives, they are politicans.
I believe the era of kinder-gentler-thousand-points-of-compassionate-big-government-change-the-tone-Bushism is over. I do not believe the Bushes agree.
Maybe you should throw out your coffee grounds and any opened food containers. Go buy some known good supplies. Avoid consuming anything handled by strangers till you recover.
I was hoping the Skull And Bones crowd is telling Obama he needs to go, and they’re here to “help”.
As Governor, did he have the power to overrule the courts? I don't know Florida law, or their state constitution at all, so I won't lay that on him.
Fact is, Jeb Bush seems to be a decent fellow, but he's never made a real name for himself with voters outside of Florida. He hasn't worked hard enough at becoming a leader in national politics, so he's got no "cache'", as they call it.
If it weren't for his high profile familial connection to two former presidents, he'd already be a forgotten footnote in political history.
