Meghan McCain Says Sarah Palin Could Win 2012; Sen. McCain Coming Along on Gay Marriage
January 28, 2010 3:30 PM
Meghan McCain ABC News on Campus reporter Miles Doran blogs:
While many were watching President Obamas State of the Union address on television Wednesday night, about 400 people gathered at the University of Florida in Gainesville to hear Meghan McCain, daughter of senator and 2008 presidential candidate Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), speak and take questions.
The 25 year-old, self-described progressive Republican and supporter of marriage equality called for a return of civility to politics.
"I am asking the Republican party to stop being so stubborn and closed-minded," she said. "This party will never be able to lead effectively or be able to inspire a nation until they accept people like me."
For about 45 minutes she took questions from the audience.

Can’t we just say “No Thanks” to anything and all things Meghan.
Please?
More to the point, why is anybody listening?
Go ask your mommy for some more money and fly away, Meghan.
See my tagline...
Meghan, we don’t want you. If we would never win another election, we don’t want you (although I think we will be winning plenty).
Y’know, Meggie-baby....we as Republicans DO NOT have to “open our minds” to folks like you. We have something that you apparently do NOT. They’re called MORALS.
If you want to hang with and support FDRQ’s, you can go and do that. But know this: We don’t have to, and we don’t WANT to.
Stick that in your pie-hole.
Meghan is paying off Palin for her endorsement of her father.
Meghan needs a muzzle.
Who took the duct tape off her mouth?
Meghan, Arlen is calling for you
Missy McLame, I reject people like you. I do not want your “progressive” belief system in the GOP. And, if the GOP accepts your “progressive” beliefs, then I will find me another party that espouses my conservative beliefs. On this I will not compromise. There is right and wrong, and you, Missy, are wrong. Please go back to school and study history. Progressiveness is what has destroyed Republics in the past. Get a clue you mindless gutter tramp.
Why is John McCain still in the GOP?
McCain is already there. He has said it on the record and he even put it in writing in Vanity Fair.
Further he voted AGAINST the federal marriage amendment.
Did the Democrat party stop accepting chubby chicks as members?
Can we stop posting her opinions? None of us take heed of her anyway! Who cares?
We accept you for what you are. You're an empty headed rich girl.
Now stop thinking your name makes your opinion any more valuable than any other empty headed rich girl.
If it weren't for your name you wouldn't be able to get 400 people to listen to your trite views and develop grandiose feelings that you matter.
You didn't invent calling yourself a Republican and acting like a Democrat, you know,Meg. Your daddy has been doing that shtick for years. So drop the "new Republican maverick" act, would ya'?
Nobody cares about you nearly as much as you obviously do.

So, calling a party of millions “stubborn and closed minded” is Meghan’s idea of “a return to civility in politics”?
Anyway, here is my attempt at a return to civility:
“Meghan, you are entitled to your opinions and, luckily for you, there is a political party that shares them! It is called the Democrat Party. I think you and everyone else would be happier if you joined it. Best wishes.”
