In response to remarks made on twitter this week by anchor David Shuster, a spokesperson for MSNBC tells Politico, "The comments were inappropriate. We have talked to David about them."
Following the arrest of conservative video producer James O'Keefe and three other men for allegedly tampering with Sen. Mary Landrieu's phones, Shuster tweeted:
@JamesOKeefeIII a) you are not a journalist b) the truth is you intended to tap her phones c) it's a felony d) you will go to prison. Shuster traveled to New Orleans to report on the case, and appeared on Keith Olbermann's program, the first 20 minutes of which last night was devoted to the story. Politico's Michael Calderone notes that MSNBC has "been all over the arrests at Landrieu's New Orleans office."
"Fox News, by contrast, has spent relatively little time on the story," writes Calderone. "It's quite a contrast from last fall, when Fox gave loads of airtime to the undercover videos in which O'Keefe pretended to be a pimp seeking help from ACORN."

Exactly. They thought they were sending Shuster down to New Orleans to be the first to cover this. It is a total dud. O'Keefe is going to show what they were really doing and it is going to blow up in the Democrats' faces.

Yes, it is a contrast. I wonder if MSNBC, supposedly filled with better journalists than O’Keefe, can see the difference between corruption within a nationwide organization that receives truckloads of money and power from the federal government and corruption within the soul of one or two lowly free-lance whistleblowers. If ACORN is not the bigger story, then I know nothing about journalism. Perhaps instead of covering last night’s state of the union address, it would make more sense to put this particular forum post (which you are now reading) on the front pages of the major newspapers.
You know why MSNBC is covering O’Keefe? To discredit him and to mend ACORN’s image. No other reason.
By the way, whatever happened to the Left’s love for whistleblowers? Weren’t they Time’s Person of the Year a few years back? (By the way, since when is a type of person a “person”. Shouldn’t a person be a person? Nevermind, we all know Time has jumped the shark.)

Just out of curiosity.... how corrupt is the New Orleans district attorney’s office, and how many Acorn people will be serving on the jury?
The managers at MSNBC had better throw a net over that kindergarten they call a “Newsroom.”
I don’t think they were there to tap the phones but I do think they were suspicous that Mary Landrieu was up to something no good and her phone system had something to do with it and they were trying to see if her phone system had been modified or tampered with.
Everyone will know what their suspicions were if it goes to trial, or possibly before. Unless Mary doesn’t want this to go public and somehow gets the charges dropped or something.

I thought I heard the reason Okeefe was there was because Landrieus constituents were complaining that they could never get through to her via the phones (supposedly they were always busy or something.) He wanted to show that there was nothing wrong with the system and that she was simply ignoring them. Is this still the case?
Schuster you expect this from. He’s a bush-league cheerleader on a network that can’t figure out the self-defeating calculus of appealing exclusively to homosexual activists.
What’s more distressing is the number of FReepers who were perfectly willing to throw O’Keefe under the bus at the mere hint of trouble. Talk about not retrieiving our wounded. Somebody should go through those early threads and make a master list of who to keep the hell out of the foxhole.
