Two Senate Democrats are pressuring the Obama administration to move Sept. 11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s trial out of New York City and into a military commission.
Democratic Sens. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and Jim Webb of Virginia signed on to a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder condemning the administration’s November announcement of a criminal trial in Manhattan.
“Your decision to prosecute enemy combatants captured on foreign battlefields like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed is without precedent in our nation’s history,” the senators wrote. “Given the risks and costs, it is far more logical, cost-effective, and strategically wise to try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in the military commissions.”
The letter “shows that there is growing support, especially on the Democratic side, against this decision. Going on the record in a letter to the [attorney general] is a big step for both Webb and Lincoln,” a Senate aide said.
The letter is also signed by Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.)

These Demos would have discovered years ago that it is much easier to take a stand on an issue like this if they had an actual spine. Something tells me that they could have other motives now...

Could it be that Lincoln and Webb are up for re-election soon? Are they facing a somewhat difficult battle? Surely their political futures would NOT enter their thinking on this issue. NAH!! They just want what’s best for the country!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Webb from Virginia is afraid - very afraid.
He comes up for re-election in 2012 with Obama on the ticket in his fourth year of failure.
Webb is the kind of schlepp who might even try to switch parties again to keep his job.
Republicans, Democrats or Indys in congress, if they love this country should work together to get these terrorists trial out of NY, returned to the military for trial.
Lets move the trial to Chicago.
May be eyewash, but still, the rats are definitely beginning to abandon ship, in droves.
Someone should ask him if he will vote against 0bamacare if it comes up for a vote again, and ask him why he voted for it the first time. That will really put this phony on the spot.
