Press reports suggest that the Obama administration intends to scrap the space exploration program started six years ago by President George W. Bush. NASA will be tasked with devising alternatives based on options from the Augustine Report.

We have to heal the climate, let other countries have the opportunity to go to the moon and make sure all Americans are equal first/s
He’s no JFK.
I’m not a big fan of NASA at times, but this is bad for our country.
I’d be happy if he would just go back to Chicago!
More destroying the Greatness of the USA!
A $1.4 trillion deficit with entitlements, Defense, DHS, and VA off limits. Something’s got to give.
I have (or at least would have) no objection to postponing pricy moonshots for awhile in light of our $$ circumstances.
But my concern here is that Obama will simply rob NASA to pay welfare: that he won’t really make overall cuts and, instead, will just use any savings from NASA to fund more garbage.
It’s for the children and a sacrifice.
In perfect step with 1970’s Black panther movement:

(but Whitey’s on the moon)”

if we have to cut back then I have no problem cutting back on NASA right now.
Guess this means we’re going to fix the earth first. Never mind 10,000 years of human history that shows we can’t.
The man is a moron.
We defer all new explorations to China ... And decide to become the world’s biggest nanny state.
NASA had been the technology driver of the US economy for the longest time. Then they got involved in the global warming scam ...
He means “HE” chooses not to go to the moon... He did not ask “WE”
“we” choose not to go the the moon because the first manned military base there will be Chinese/Russian
But we will spend $2.6 BILLION to build high speed rail from Tampa to Disney World

the hard left in this country has always had it in for the space program, they were saying all the same things in 1969
“We choose to not do these things not because they are easy, but because we are stupid.”
I am a space enthusiast but I recognize there are budget constraints. Plus there are some technical minded people who said Ares was not the best way to go. But to suddenly just largely end the human spaceflight program like this is very negative. The nation will stagnate more without having dreams and aspirations like the ones space exploration provide.
It also is infuriating to know how much “stimulus” cash is being wasted while NASA’s relatively tiny budget bets no boost. This is going to cost many jobs. But then to anyone in touch with reality in 2008, we could see this coming. 0 offered nothing but nice sounding rhetoric. After saying he wanted to cut NASA and then backtracked, he still won FL and ran strongly in Brevard County, home of Kennedy Space Center. Now a lot of people are in for a rude shock, sad to say.
Pretty sad that this president who makes empty pleas to people to dream big is taking away the dream of so many children and young people who are excited and inspired by space.
