Early Ore. Vote Results Come Gushing In
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS January 26, 2010
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Early results from Oregon's special election came gushing in, and two tax measures were ahead on the strength of votes from Multnomah County, home of the liberal bastion Portland.
Polling suggested the final count could be closer. The heavy vote was a result of a new law that allows mailed in ballots to be scanned days in advance of the close of voting.
With nearly three-quarters of the expected vote counted, 55 percent had voted for Measure 66, which would impose higher taxes on the wealthy, and 45 percent had voted against.
On Measure 67, which would raise taxes on businesses, 54 percent had voted for and 46 percent had voted against.
The Legislature imposed the tax increases last year, and businesses interests sponsored referendum petitions to put them to a statewide vote.
The campaign pitted public employee unions against business groups, with the unions having the upper hand in spending based on the most recent reports.

each state can do their own thing.. in Texas we dont do it this way .. but it is their money..
UNIONS WIN! Watch revenues drop, businesses flee, and unemployment continue to rise....
When is the vote counting in Bend Over?
I’d advise all those businesses and wealthy Oregonians to move to a friendlier state.
I didn’t know the liberals in Oregon are so envious of California, that they want to ruin themselves.
Why should they care if the federal government keeps bailing out the worst liberal states? They never are allowed to go bankrupt...
“Why should they care if the federal government keeps bailing out the worst liberal states? They never are allowed to go bankrupt...”
They’re too pig to go bankrupt...
What would they do if a high percentage of the wealthy actually moved out of state?
LOL...."they" are ignorant tools of the unions and their overlords.....they'd cry.
Isn't it ironic that liberals who claim to be for the little guy invariably outspend their opponents to get their brand of "compassion"?
They’ll be sorry. But it’s never their fault.
...except this time....
YEP...the unions spent about $5,100,000....biz spent about $1,500,000
I thought they passed? Its not over?
Oregon will get exactly what it deserves. Businesses with any integrity will relocate to non-communist states. People who have worked to make successes of themselves will relocate to non-communist states. In the end, people actually do, “vote with their feet”. Simple as that.
In other news, Oregon State Police report heavy traffic of moving vans and expensive cars leaving the state.
Texas is a good place to live..
That’s ok, the businesses will vote with their moving vans as will everyone else being taxed. Higher taxes leads to less revenue and the slack will be picked up by those that are left. We haven’t learned in New York and assholes never learn anywhere. When the peasants figure out they can get money for not working, it’s a no brainer, they will vote that way every time.
“UNIONS WIN! Watch revenues drop, businesses flee, and unemployment continue to rise....”
And when that really kicks in it will be time for another tax hike to be voted in and the cycle will begin again.
