Political Correctness Kills, Says Islam Expert

The U.S. military missed multiple direct warnings that Major Nidal Malik Hasan was contemplating mass mayhem once he learned he was going to be deployed to Afghanistan but ignored them because of political correctness, an Australian scholar of Islam told Newsmax in Washington, D.C. recently.

“At a certain point, someone explained to Major Hasan that he had a duty to fight Americans and that if he didn’t, he would go to Hell,” says Dr. Mark Durie, who has written several books on Islamic ideology. Hi latest is, “The Third Choice: Islam, Dhimmitude and Freedom.”

Hasan made a presentation to Army colleagues 18 months before the Fort Hood massacre, warning them that Muslim soldiers were compelled by Quranic teaching to turn against the U.S. military if they were ordered into combat against fellow Muslims.

“A public debate needs to take place about whether . . . an Islamic worldview can be in conflict with loyalty” to the United States or any other non-Muslim country, Durie said. “This debate needs to be pursued without being censored by political correctness.”

And yet, the 86-page Pentagon report on the Ford Hood massacre, released last week, failed to mention the words “Islam” “Muslim” or “jihad,” and called Hasan’s actions the product of “self-radicalization.”

Challenged at a press conference where he presented his findings last week, the report’s main author, former U.S. Army chief Togo West, dismissed Hasan’s Muslim faith as a cause of his murderous rampage.

Togo West didn’t write the report, some lackies did.

I wonder how many revisions it went through?

I’d like to see the first drafts, before Togo went to work with his red pen of PCness.

Question: has there ever been another religious group in the USA for which there was a serious question of loyalty going into combat among US forces purely because of the religion?

I’m not speaking of Quakers or Mennonites or Jehovah’s Witnesses who are often pacifists, but rather of religious justifications for violent treason and murder against fellow soldiers, sailors, etc???? I’m not speaking of individual traitors who have their own supposed reasons or motivations, but of people who would sincerely claim “religious” justification for turning violently upon their comrades-in-arms....

Different varieties of Catholics, Protestants, Jews, also Hindus or Buddhists, etc. certainly have lines of tradition which oppose all war or “unjust” war etc.

But is there any other significant religious group in the USA, now or ever before, which includes large numbers of adherents who not only might refuse to serve but would claim their religious/moral justification for treason, sabotage and yes, even killing fellow servicemen and women??

I think this is an issue that calls for much more analysis, evidence, and discussion..... b/c while some can claim that X number of Muslim soldiers serve honorably, and it may well be true, is there any other grouping in American life that provides ostensible justification for turning on one’s military comrades and slaughtering them??

From that perspective I think the growing presence of Islam in recent years is unprecedented in American life and military operations, even if many/most Muslims maybe would not act on such beliefs (often more from self-preservation than from a conviction that it’s wrong to betray and kill non-Muslims).
