Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee urges quick offensive for 2010 ("drive a wedge" in Repubs)
Politico ^ | January 26, 2010 | Manu Raju & John Bresnahan

Democrats are looking for someone to blame for their electoral woes — and Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee Chairman Robert Menendez is working hard to make sure it’s not him.

Showing that they’ve learned the lesson of Massachusetts, Menendez and his staff will distribute a memo Tuesday advising Democratic campaign managers to frame their opponents early — and to drive a wedge between moderate voters and tea-party-style conservatives.

“Given the pressure Republican candidates feel from the extreme right in their party, there is a critical — yet time-sensitive — opportunity for Democratic candidates,” the DSCC writes. “We have a finite window when Republicans candidates will feel susceptible to the extremists in their party. Given the urgent nature of this dynamic, we suggest an aggressive effort to get your opponents on the record.”

The memo urges Democratic candidates to force their opponents to answer a series of questions on health care, taxes and some of the favorite causes of the far right:

“Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen? Do you think the 10th Amendment bars Congress from issuing regulations like minimum health care coverage standards? Do you think programs like Social Security and Medicare represent socialism and should never have been created in the first place? Do you think President Obama is a socialist? Do you think America should return to a gold standard?”

Boy, Republicans, if they had a brain, could really hang Dems with this rope:

“Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen?”
Why has obama hidden his college and medical records? I thought he was the most transparent President in US history.

“Do you think the 10th Amendment bars Congress from issuing regulations like minimum health care coverage standards?”
I respect the constitution’s division of power between the Federal and State governments. Regulating health care is a State issue. Quote a Democrat’s disrespectful answer to the constitutional question and say “i sure don’t agree that the constitution is no longer the law of the land like Senator/Congresswoman _______________.”

“Do you think programs like Social Security and Medicare represent socialism and should never have been created in the first place?”
Yes I think it is clear why the American people should not have been forced into the ponzi scheme we call social security. It turns out to have been social insecurity. The Federal Government spent the money it collected and now the program is short to fund the babyboomer generation. Now that the government has ensnared this generation into dependence on Social Security by confiscating their retirement money, we can not abandon them in their old age. But future generations should not be forced into this ponzi scheme.

Do you think President Obama is a socialist? Yes I think he is by the actions he has taken to take over private industry, threatening FCC and internet and air wave speech regulation, his effort to decrease Medicare for what radical enviornmentalists refer to as “useless eaters” and from radicals he has surrounded himself with in the Czar community.

Do you think America should return to a gold standard?”
I think Congress has to investigate the Fed and revisit the community investment act that permitted politicials and radical organizations like ACORN to spur this economic crash and do what needs to be done to set the country on a sound financial footing.

They don’t have the brains to nail the socialists.

My HOPE is that they have their own “Ross Perot” who challenges “the one” and divides their base.

Their base is already fractured. I received a email from moveon yesterday which wants to threaten contributions for the fall if there is no comprehensive healthcare package.

The left's idea of protesting a candidate is staying home on election day. That works for me!

Saul Alinsky Communists continue to demonize the opposition rather than present voters with their REAL agenda.

The DNC is now on record in saying that the Constitution is an extremist document. No wonder they considered the actions of the Supreme Court reading "Congress shall make no law" regarding political speech as "judicial activism".

I believe that a system of taxing one man accoring to his ability to give to another according to his need is Marxist redistribution.

“Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen?”

I believe that he was raised an anti-American Red Diaper Doper Baby who has never said a kind word about this country on foreign soil. Every utterance is "well now all that is different because I'M HERE."

“Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen?”

The birthers need to shut the hell up. There are dozens of issues upon which the GOP can destroy the Democrats going into November, this isn’t one of them.

What the dumbocrats are failing to realize is that many in the Tea Party movement are democrats that are as fed up with the tax and spend mess as Republicans are. Also true for many Independents.

Many of those Democrats in the Tea Party movement are senior citizens who are tired of financing the Democrat’s socialistic agenda with their investments that are returning almost zero returns.

Yeesh, can't these morons even come up with anything more creative? That is almost word for word the standard Alinsky style of debate, isolate, polarize, ridicule.

Apparently, Menendez is no mental giant.

Doesn't matter whether they shut up or not. They are being ignored anyway. It should be the media's job anyway. Look how the media pursued W about his air national guard service. So far that when they couldn't produce any factual evidence, Dan Rather manufactured some false information. Yet the same media refuses to touch the bona-fide question concerning Obama’s birth certificate. Obama believes the question is so bona-fide that he has spent in excess of $2,000,000 avoiding the issue.

What we do need is for one state to make it clear to Obozo that he will not be allowed on the ballot in that state in 2012 unless and until he proves that he is a natural-born citizen of the U. S.

Perhaps the reason that he has now begun to say that he would rather be a good one-term president than a two-term president is that he knows that after one term his gig is up.

Another EPIC FAIL strategy - here are my answers:

Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen?
Citizen or not, I believe his actions as President are hurting this country.

Do you think the 10th Amendment bars Congress from issuing regulations like minimum health care coverage standards?
Congress should not spend more that it takes in like any other financially responsible entity.

Do you think programs like Social Security and Medicare represent socialism and should never have been created in the first place?
The past can't dig us out of this debt hole; the only path to recovery is to slash government budgets across the board.

Do you think President Obama is a socialist?
What he “is” does matter, it is what he is doing that is devastating this country.

Do you think America should return to a gold standard?
For the sake of this country's future, I think the US government should balance it's budget, no matter how painful that may be.

if the state media couldn’t drive the mass. voters to the dem party then their influence over the electorate has to be really called into question which in turn blunts the effectiveness of dem strategy when they resort to this kind of campaigning. If repub candidates take a principled conservative stance on any of these wedge issues their is ample information out there for people, especially independents, to make up their own minds.

Perhaps we can all agree that the Constitution does not allow Congress to mandate that any citizen is required to purchase health insurance from anyone—government or otherwise. Even if the 10th amendment allows Congress to establish minimum health care standards, it doesn't require that we the people purchase the results of those efforts by Congress. Without the mandatory requirement that the young people purchase health insurance that they think they do not need nor want, Obamacare lacks the funds to sustain itself. It is not about the Constitution with the socialists, it is about the end justifying the means.

Their next big push is going to be amnesty for the illegals because without them, they are in deep dodo in 2012 and they know it. We tea baggers will crush them on this issue too.

“Its always been a ridiculous internet rumor in my view anyway.”

Obama has spent over #2,000,000 of your tax money in order to avoid producing his Certificate of Live Birth—the long form that lists the hospital and is signed by the attending physician. Why are you willing to produce that same birth certificate in order to obtain a passport, yet he refuses to do so in order dispel a internet rumor?

“Do you believe that Barack Obama is a U.S. citizen?”

"The birthers need to shut the hell up."

It's not helping. But neither is it, I believe, hurting. I'm not going to make an issue of it, anyway.

In any event, there's a very good response to the question: Is the President a U.S. citizen? Well, so far as I know, yes. But, since the question has come up, it is a little puzzling that his campaign is so intent on keeping his birth certificate under seal, isn't it?

Every one of those questions can be fended off effectively. Indeed, they offer the opportunity to make points of your own.
