Just as a little history lesson, the GOP won the special elections for Senator in Texas and Representative in Ohio back in 1993 as a prelude to the national 1994 GOP rout of Dems.

The amazing thing is that Axelrod and Company believe that Barry can pull off this pivot and reposition himself as a populist, with gimmicks like the bank tax—which will be passed on to consumers.
Berry’s retirement is no surprise; to me, the big news of the day is Beau Biden’s decision not to seek the Senate seat of Delaware. I realize a lot of folks don’t like his father (and who can blame them), but the Biden “machine” has got to be worth 5-10 points in the state—or it used to be.
I’m guessing that Biden’s preliminary polling showed him losing in a landslide to Mike Castle. In a blue state like Delaware, that is very telling.
The U.S. Senate is going to look very, very different one year from now, thanks in large part to the annointed one.
One more thing...anyone want to predict when Hillary Clinton will resign as Secretary of State, so she can challenge the Annointed One in 2012? My guess is no later than Oct-Nov of this year, so she’ll have time to rebuild her staff and hit the hustings.
