The 1994 nightmare: Why Dems must fear a repeat
NY Post ^ | January 25, 2010 | Rich Lowry

For Democrats willing to see what's before their eyes, the nightmare came into sharper focus over the last week. Another 1994 might be in the offing.

Back then, the beginning of the end came on a procedural vote. A Democratic majority that had held the House for four decades lost a routine party-line vote on a "rule," a basic measure allowing it to control the House floor.

The August vote hit like a neutron bomb. Superficially, nothing changed: The Democrats still had a majority; they quickly re-established control and passed the underlying legislation, a liberal crime bill. Yet Republicans exulted at the whiff of legislative revolution: The Democrats had begun to lose their grip.

Scott Brown's victory last week in Massachusetts is the equivalent of that momentous vote.

It will only happen if the Republicans grow a pair.
They can Start when the Democrats say that they didnt know how bad things were before Obama was elected and its Bushs fault, the fact is the DEMOCRATS have Controlled the Congress for the Past 3 YEARS and The loon from Sanfrancico has been the Speaker since then.
Why didnt she say Fannie and Freddie were going to Bankrupt the Country? Why Did DEMOCRAT BARNIE FRANK say there was nothing wrong with Fannie and Freddie? Why did Bush 26 TIMES in Speeches say That Fannie and Freddie needed to be regulated or we will be facing Big trouble?
The Republicans have this Disease that they just let the Aholes in the Democrat Party define them.
Now Obama is Bringing back David Plouffe the guy credited with Helping him get elected, well the way I look at it he helped perpetrate the fraud that Obama was a CENTRIST that was going to change the ways of Washington,No more special Interests and all that Crap, dont you think it would be nice if the Republicans would get up and say just that and not to allow him to sucker most of the Country again.
I know this is hard but I thought some of these High paid consultants could get a little out of their comfort zones

Once we retake the Congress we can impeach Obama and try him for treason.

You would think the public would catch on to the dems after a while.

Pushing goodies and the illusion of a free ride will always win them a substantial amount of support. The Dems exploit the baser nature of humans and are very good at it.

"...It will only happen if the Republicans grow a pair...

I don't think it has to do with growing a pair: Our elected republicans have proven time and again that they are in it for themselves solely. That is their overriding criteria.

I say less republicans, more conservatives.

Lowry misses the big point. The economy is the number one thing that makes dems vulnerable, its the crappy health care bill and inept responses to terrorist attacks that make makes it even worse.

If the Dims feel that they are going to fall, they may get desperate and start ramming all sorts of bad bills through, including gun control, immigration reform, and addendums to the healthcare bill.

If they do, then the next Congress can just withhold funding.

There may be fewer kamikazes than we think. In a perilous election year, it will be difficult for Pelosi and Reid to offer bribes. Look at how Nelson backpedaled. Even with money and connections, most people do not want to be reviled and hated on their home turf. Who wants to be the darling of leftist NGOs that may be without adequate funding and support in a year?

We have, so far, 3 or perhaps 4 elections that already have shown the political elite that command and control is illusory in a country that has a 200+ year experience with individual liberty. Most folks want a job and a future, not a meager dole dependent upon political connections or purchased votes. I know a small contractor who has benefited from the stimulus because the municipalities have been able to add and repair sidewalks. The stimulus kept his company alive, but he, himself, will not vote for donks or RINOs. I doubt he is alone.

"DEMOCRATS have Controlled the Congress for the Past 3 YEARS "

iirc:

And of course, the recovery will truly begin once markets are satisfied the Republicans will again be in charge of Congress after November 2010.

I hate to wish my life away, but November can not come too soon. ;-)

I was just listening to “Morning Joe” on MSNBC. It seems that the Dhimmi senatorial candidates are going to resort to raw attack politics against Republican opponents this year, trying to link them to the tea parties, Sarah Palin, people who question Zer0’s eligibility and/or citizenship, etc.

That stuff might still work to some extent in blue states but everywhere else those subjects are not unpopular at all. It is amazing the crap the Dhimmis will resort to to get and/or retain power, even tactics that make no logical sense whatsover and look more like lashing out and thrashing around.

They are in their death throes.
