This poll is meaningless if it was taken before the Brown Out in Mass...

Starting in January ‘11, if the GOP really regains a majority in either chamber of Congress or really regains a majority in both chambers of Congress, then Obama will also not be as powerful. A true, super-majority of actual conservatives in the next Congress would really make Obama very powerless. What would Obama DEFINITELY DO next in such political circumstances?

Should we be surprised? Romney is a fag. Sarah isn’t near ready (2016 perhaps), and Gingrich is a lech and a RINO. Try Scott Brown for kicks.

. . .who is this generic Republican who could beat him?

Fred Thompson? Michelle Bachmann? Paul Ryan?

If we pray fervently, he/she will become known. We have time.

According to the poll, Obama beats Mitt Romney, 47 percent to 35 percent, defeats Sarah Palin, 55 percent to 31 percent, and makes a quick business of Newt Gingrich, 53 percent to 29 percent. What, no Santorum?

A dose of reality - no matter how much Obama's policies are disliked, he himself has a lot of goodwill from many Americans. The GOP needs someone with brains, great communication skills and a lot of charisma to make a credible run. They don't have anyone like that right now, however. Duncan Hunter is good on a lot of issues but he'd lose to Obama in one of the biggest landslides in US history.

It is very difficult for those of you in Jesusland to understand just how unpopular the Republicans are.

Brown won IN SPITE of being the GOP candidate, not because of it - which makes his victory even more impressive, IMO.

The People are ready to dump the Democrats - all of 'em, maybe.

But the alternative is not clear, and the GOP has not closed the deal.

The title spins like a top. Obama slays repubs except for the one that bumps him out of office.

I predict the man who gets to GOP nomination is man no one of us really knows much about yet, someone who comes out of seemingly nowhere.

I hope Sarah Palin campaigns for thta man, but does not run on the ticket. She can be a moral force for good and help America more by not trying to run for office.

If she campaigns for McCain she is loyal and noble, but a fool, McCain has served his time, he is old and looks and acts it, it's time to go, he is no longer good for the party and is not God's gift to America. The fact that he is pretending to be viable for a 2012 run for president makes his judgment and personal mental status questionable. One mega narcissist is now destroying America, we don't need a John-John mini me, time for a man or woman who is selfless.

Our focus needs to be on 2010, not 2012.

I’m not foreclosed at all to running again.--Duncan Hunter

..despite my warnings to Sarah Palin on her Facebook page LOL, she feels compelled to show painful and damaging loyalty to someone who could ruin her with the base, perhaps revealing that her political instincts are not as good as I thought--but I'm not convinced yet--she's been too good heretofore.

Time will tell, but I am pleased that DH is not going to turn down the volume yet...

Okay let’s look at this from a common sense approach. Obama still hovers in most polls close to 50%. He is the incumbent. Even at Bush’s lowest point he would lose generically to a Dem but they never ran one on one polls him vs. any singular Dem by name. I would go out on a limb and say if you would’ve matched Bush’s name vs. a Barack Obama in say——early 2007 Bush (supposing he could run again) would have walloped Obama in that poll. In fact no one thought that dude was even viable as a candidate in a Dem primary back in early 2007.

The point is theses polls are completely meaningless at this point. Hillary was hated by over half of America thru out her whole political career but she still would’ve beat the tar out of Juan McCain. Timing is everything in politics. If the nation is still mired in this level of unemployment, bankruptcies, foreclosures, loss of 401k wealth, encroachment on freedoms, etc., etc., then I could run on the GOP ticket and beat Obama 55% to 44%.

So in 2011 and 2012 those polls will be a little less skewered behind a “new” president blaming everything on the previous administration.

GOP insiders will run Pawlenty/Thune if Romney doesn’t run.

72 hours in politics is a lifetime. Trying to predict anything a month in advance in politics is folly.
