A Michigan defense contractor will voluntarily stop stamping references to Bible verses on combat rifle sights made for the U.S. military, a major buyer of the company's gear.
In a statement released Thursday, Trijicon of Wixom, Mich., says it is also providing to the armed forces free of charge modification kits to remove the Scripture citations from the telescoping sights already in use. The Marine Corps has purchased more than 200,000 Trijicon sights and the Army has bought about 100,000.

Looks to me like the citations in question are cast as part of the individual serial numbers. I suppose Trigicon could send the DOD something to cover it up - a roll of electrical tape an a pair of scissors might do. Free of charge, or course.
I don't own an ACOG - but this "controversy" has helped me decide to save up and buy one. Also... "telescoping" sights? Heh, I love when clueless retards try to write about gun stuff.
We will not defeat our enemies if we do not stand by our beliefs.
“Just take this epoxy stick, cut off about 1” and knead it till all one color. Press onto the offending lettering and allow to cure (about 5 minutes).
What ever you do, make sure there is no grease or oil on the surface of the lettering prior to applying the putty, else the putty will fall off in 24 hours’”
Maybe they'll also provide the armed forces, free of charge, modification kits that PUT the scripture citations onto the telescoping sights not yet in use? If I was getting shot at, I'd like to have that and anything else like it on my gun!
...supporting the business and the famlies of its employees.
The *Light* in this case may refer to the tritium illumination in the scope. Helps with low light conditions.

In my humble opinion you’re missing the point just a bit. This is NOT about evangelical tendencies but about keeping our enemies from using our equipment against us! We ought to be inscribing EVERY piece of equipment with bible verses! C4 should be inundated with little particles that have biblical verses inscribed on them so that when some terrorist blows himself up ... he’s evangelizing ... spreading the word! Perhaps we’re missing the best way to STOP the spread of terror. If all of their equipment were inscribed with Biblical verses, they’d be back to throwing stones and poking us with sticks!
Any chance they will sell their exiting stock with Bible references at a nice discount?
And the sniper in “Saving Private Ryan” was just spouting nonsense then? In the church tower?
That was a great sequence.
Now let’s see.....this is a theological question.....if a God fearing, patriotic American soldier, sailor, Marine, or Air Force shooter kills a dirty, pig molesting moslem with an ACOG or any other Scripture stamped equipment....does that mean that God has struck a blow against allah and won?

Didn't you get the memo? As of 1/20/09 we are no longer a Christian Nation.
Of course it is, anything to hurt the war effort.
Hopefully our next CINC will have the balls to proclaim that we ARE fighting the next Crusade and it is a war of Western Christian/Judeo Civilization against the Satan worshiping barbarians.
Atheists? not. They wouldn’t care if they were truly atheists. Methinks the objectors DO believe in God - else they would not be stressed out of their minds at the faintest reference thereto.
Works for me . . .
I thought initially . . . too harsh . . .
. . . however . . . treason fits well enough, imho.
not their meaning...
I have been working on construction projects around trijicon for years, and all their references to light, is in regard to the tritium power cell they have in these scopes for illuminated reticles in low light conditions a ten + year battery if you will...
