Palin to hit 2010 trail (for McCain! Talk about loyalty)
Politico ^ | 1/20/2010 | Ben Smith

Posted on 01/20/2010 6:29:26 AM PST by GOP_Resurrected

Former Gov. Sarah Palin will announce today that she's hitting the campaign trail for Republicans -- including her former running mate John McCain.

Palin, who did not campaign in last year's governor's races or in yesterday's Senate race in Massachusetts, has committed to contests in three states, including two Republican primaries, an aide said.

She'll campaign in Texas for Gov. Rick Perry, who faces a primary challenge from Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison; she'll appear in Arizona for Senator John McCain, who faces a challenge from the right; and she'll appear in Minnesota for Rep. Michelle Bachmann, a conservative firebrand who has emerged as a national figure.

In a statement set to appear on her Facebook page, Palin promises to campaign "FOR the people and AGAINST politics as usual."

She cites the Massachusetts contest as "a clear indication of things to come and a demonstration of the momentum we all share in the fight for the values and policies that will get our country back to work," promising to campaign for "the commonsense conservative principles of liberty and fiscal responsibility."

Palin's return to electoral politics -- and to primary politics in particularly -- suggests that she isn't content merely to be a media figure with her new Fox News contract, but intends to be active in shaping the Republican Party in her own image. Her full statement is after the jump.

Statement from Sarah Palin

Title: Ride the Tide with Commonsense Candidates!

I want to again thank the good people of Massachusetts for propelling a commonsense, independent agenda forward! May the working man and woman feel empowered now more than ever to get involved in their government, and let's put this great country on the right track. The past year continues to offer the promise of commonsense government in so many areas. There are steps we can all take to get there, one of which is to support candidates who promise to fight FOR the people and AGAINST politics as usual. I'm excited to get out and help elect candidates who will bring those principles to our nation's towns, state houses, and directly to Washington D.C. We are already making plans to support the candidates our nation needs to make a difference and speak for everyday Americans. I look forward to helping Governors like Rick Perry in Texas, Representatives like Michele Bachmann in Minnesota, and heroes and statesmen like Senator John McCain. We will support these candidates and others so that they can continue to fight for our American values. The special election yesterday in Massachusetts was truly amazing. It is a clear indication of things to come and a demonstration of the momentum we all share in the fight for the values and policies that will get our country back to work. The commonsense conservative principles of liberty and fiscal responsibility are on the rise, and that's why I'm going out and campaigning as hard as I can to make a difference. I can't wait to join all of you in supporting these great candidates and many more over the coming months. In the meantime, visit the websites of Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, and John McCain. And join us as we embark on America's journey to November!

Hannity can’t let a week go by without having all the major RINO’s on his show: Romney, Newt, and McLame.

You forgot Michael Steele.

but to campaign for him just makes her another run of the mill politician! I thought better of her than this!

Yes, she'll be moving from Going Rogue to Going DC Beltway, and her supporters will not like that.

Defending McCain may turn out to be Sarah Palin’s downfall.

No more RINOs.

No more RINO staffers

NO MORE RINO SUPPORTERS

“Let her support McCain, if it wasn’t for him, she would still be the governor of Alaska and out of the headlines. Its more of a, thank you John, support. She owes him that for choosing her and bringing her to the front page for all to see.”

Yes, McCain brought Palin in, and he’s also going to take her out.

If she campaigns against Hayworth in a primary, then to me, there is no confused messaged. She will be no better than those RINOS and status-quos who are ruining the party.

But I’m waiting and seeing. It wouldn’t be bad if its a one time courtesy call..a few perfunctory bromides more or less.

OK - this will be a really important decision for her, for us. If Hayworth enters, she should stay out of that primary. We ARE watching Sarah. Make us proud - AGAIN!

VR,
No surprise here. Her decision was expected. We still don’t know if she’ll get directly involved in a McCain v Hayworth battle. Has Hayworth declared a run yet?

I’m afraid that this decision to campaign, or if not true, then the possibility of her campaigning for McCain, just might put the end to any chance of Hayworth running.

Wouldn’t it be funny if this was a rumor, or her words twisted out of context by the McCain people to prevent J.D. from running in the primary? If so, then ha-ha..the jokes on us.

Imagine the headlines if she campaigned againt McCain: Palin Turns on McCain. Palin Savages McCain. Palin Kicks Mentor...blah blah blah. It’s a wise move.

Entering the fray in primaries is a very interesting move on her part. It’s not really the kind of thing that someone seeking the nomination in 2012 would normally do. But Palin seems be nothing but her instincts and they’ve served her well so far.

Still, getting involved in the Texas primary on either side seems like it would only serve to piss off someone at this point. I’ve heard ads for weeks now and seems like the strategy for both Perry and Hutchinson is “My opponent is an awful human being.”

Oh stop.

This is payback for McCain picking her as Veep. Were it not for his choice, she’d be stuck in Alaska as a young, relatively unknown (save for Movement Conservatives) Alaskan Governor.

At this level, you don’t stab your patron in the back by supporting someone like Hayworth. Even Hayworth gets this.

Best,

Chris

Hold the presses! Sarah Palin will receive negative press!/s

She’s no stranger to that. Look at “hat-gate” when she wore a cap with McCain’s name scratched out.

If this is true, it’s going to hurt her.

I am a supporter of hers, but this puts a black mark on her. She’s putting blind loyalty over conviction.

her loyalty to LIFE. She always demonstrates grace in the face of controversy. Always.

Right you are. What a refreashing person to have before us and to inspire us in these dark days.

Even though mclame lead us into nobamahell, he deserves our gratitude for introducing Sarah to America!

By my count she has now endorsed two RINOs....John McCain and Michael Steele.

Up the count to five.

Her PAC gave money to Hatch, Murkowski, and... Lindsey Grahamnesty.

Epic fail.

A LOT of the very bitter leaks against Palin from D.C. that came out while she was governor in the Spring of last year came from Hutchinson’s office.

Hutchinson and McCain hate each other like poison, but she still wanted to be picked as Veep. Hutch despises Palin, and her staff (probably with the help of Mittens’ people) engaged in hostile leaking against Palin all last year.

There’s a reason Perry was Palin’s first endorsement in, like, March of last year. Palin and Hutch don’t get on.

Best,

Chris
