Sen. Webb: No HCR Votes Until Brown Seated
talking points memo ^
Posted on 01/19/2010 7:10:50 PM PST by cdchik123
Less than 15 minutes after the race was called for Republican Scott Brown, the first of what could be many conservative Democrats asks for leadership to put the brakes on health care reform.
Sen. Jim Webb (D-VA) congratulated Brown on his win and delivered a zinger:
"In many ways the campaign in Massachusetts became a referendum not only on health care reform but also on the openness and integrity of our government process. It is vital that we restore the respect of the American people in our system of government and in our leaders. To that end, I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated."

I was waiting to see who had been given the job of providing cover.....
I expected it to be Lieberman, but it had to be a Dem, not an Ind. Webb just answered my question.

He can try to make the switch, but I want the GOP to have no part of him come November.Webb is no conservative. Besides, weve been down that road before - taking their left-overs who infiltrate our party and sell conservatives down the river.
No thanks, Webb. Just retire if you are unhappy - we dont want you.
I agree with you.

The democrats better prepare themselves for the carnage coming their way in November. No democrat should feel safe after watching Brown go into the heart of liberalism and take Kennedy’s former seat. Payback is a Nancy.

To all the Con. and Ind. in Mass that voted for Brown. Tonight you did our Country proud and this Conservative thanks you.
BHO Super Majority is over unless the Dems can find another TRAITOR. This should set the Rep up for the 2010 with a Can do Attitude.

i have to say the republicans in congress kept this deathcare bill at bay for many months. Not one republican voted for it. Now The Good Lord has sent in a strong recruit to help stop the madness the dems have shoved at our throat.
Tonight I Thank the LORD for hearing our prayers and our party for holding the line until help arrived.

Disagree. Jim Webb knew the people of the Commonwealth were against both the stimulus and healthcare and he still rubber stamped them. Jim Webb is just shaking in his boots and decided that it was now time to take a stand on principle.

BTAIM, he struck the right note People are turned off by the secrecy. This is not a parliamentary democracy where the Government of the Day has virtually royal authority to impose whatever legislation they chose.

At dinner this evening my friend gave a very favorable review of Webb;s book describing the Scots Irish in America and how they would not kowtow to their Betters.
It was this fierce ingrained perhaps genetic trait that caused him to refuse to shake W’s hand. Interesting take.
Made me wonder.

Harry Reid & Company may just try to flip another Republican, willing to play the villain for $$$, and
leave Scott Brown alone.
