Unless you plan to learn to fly a light airplane through the middle of a collapsing building, there’s not much to learn from “2012”.

Unless you plan to learn to fly a light airplane through the middle of a collapsing building, theres not much to learn from 2012.Much obliged. Between the opening of "For Your Eyes Only" where Bond flies a helicopter through a warehouse and the beginning of "Octopussy" where he flies that little plane sideways through the airplane hangar while they're frantically closing the doors, I'm qualified. :-)

It is a screencap of parameters I set in Earthquake3D, which is available at
wolton.net/quake. Earthquake3D is a nice little program, worth checking out. I downloaded it last week and have very impressed by it.

While it is good to keep an eye on that sleeping giant, I don't believe you have anything to worry about.
Yellowstone has been far more active as of late and nothing has come of it.
Like I said though, it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on it.

The Cascadia Subduction Zone spits out a major quake every three hundred years or so. The last one was in 1700 and resulted in a massive tsunami that wreaked havoc in Japan.
Let’s see: 1700 + 300 = ...? I notice from that graphic that the west coast of the U.S. is about the only part of the Pacific Plate that hasn’t wiggled or coughed in the past week. Of course, the San Andreas has - as usual - a zillion or so minor (1.0-3.0) quakes every week.
Still, all in all, I don’t think I want to visit the Oregon beaches for awhile. Besides, they might visit ME!
