this Haiti relief issue is not one where President Bush should have blasted [Obama]

I agree. I think Bush should have done way more to defend his policies and the GOP when he was president, but I don't think anything good would have come out of his attacking Obama now.

However, I wish he would come forward to defend capitalism and free markets. He was panicked and strong-armed into the stupid "bailout" that the Dems have used as cover for all the bizarre things they have done since then. But I think that he is fundamentally not a statist, and it would be a great help for him to come out and say this and explain the bailout.

Arrest the corrupt Haitians. Mow them down and get the aid to the people.

Character also means not being a useful idiot. Let’s face it. Haiti IS being politicized by the Dims. I’m tired of all this go along to get along sentiment. That’s what got us into trouble in the first place.
Bush has always been the ultimate piñata.

You were saying ...

I miss George W. like I miss Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford.

Well, I was just reading another thread where I saw one poster who said that they didn't vote for McCain because McCain was not qualified to be President (per the Constitution) because he was not a "natural born citizen" -- just like Obama was not a natural born citizen, either.

I've seen many who has said that this is the case (here on Free Republic, too) -- and I wonder if they're "missing McCain" (just like you are missing Nixon and Ford) -- with Obama here... LOL...

I would rather have Bush here again... :-)

this Haiti relief issue is not one where President Bush should have blasted the President... President Bush isn't being a fool here like some FReepers say... he knows who he is... he is confident in who he is... what people think about him doesn't shape him... i think it takes character and inner strength to not get defensive over very little things... this is a little thing... i'm glad he's not petty like the Clintons and Obamas... yuck!

Yes, definitely... all this "grousing about" by some FReepers here is just the same ones who were always complaining and grousing about him before. They're playing politics just like they always were (and just like the Democrats do).

Heck when President Bush was asked if he thought that he was helping Obama out by his comments on Haiti...

"Nothing I do could ever help Obama dig out of the hole he's in..."]

Obviously, many of the posters do not understand the concept of “self-sacrifice.” kudos to President Bush.

Apparently, Bush has more class in his little finger than some have in their entire bodies. This isn’t political with GW, and, can you imagine the headlines if he would’ve refused? He was durned if he did, and durned if he didn’t. He took the high road, as he usually does. He is practicing his Christianity. God is the only one he has to answer to - not any of us. I highly commend him for these attributes. He isn’t mean and spiteful like the zero now in office and the contrast speaks very loud and clear.

Sure, he could’ve defended himself more, but, chose not to. He said history will take care of that, and I imagine his new book will have some revelations as well. Its much better to let Cheney be the hit guy, because let’s face it - Cheney is so much better at it. He scares the pants off of most libs. George is an ex-president. He can say, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” He’s an honorable man and I’d much rather still have him in the WH now, than this poor-excuse we now have, who calls himself president.

I was wondering where George Bush has been keeping himself hidden for the past year while Obama and the Dims have been destroying America almost unopposed?

At last he surfaces... to praise the Kenyan usurper - as he gives away more money and allows illegal Haitians to stay here (forever)!

*sigh*

(see my tagline)

George H.W. Bush is 85 years old now. He may no longer have energy to do this sort of thing.

Really? I think Elder Bush still does his sky diving, doesn’t he.

It isn’t like Obama is going to have him actually schlepping crates at the port, or was that Obama’s intent?

"And class. He makes them look as small and petty as they are when he does these things."

Taking that thought and applying it to the internet ... doesn't all of the criticism of Obama and the liberals on their response to the tragedy in Haiti look small and petty?

This forum is not being presented in its best light, that's for sure. The politicization of this earthquake is petty and shameful. We should all be praying and offering whatever we can to help the human beings that are caught in this disaster and suffering immensely.

You said” only an idiot...”

And I said “Well?”

You missed my humor ;-)

“Bush still seems to be practicing his “New Tone” thing that got him a 27% rating when he left office.

Not to mention he, Rove and the GOP are the reason we have Hussien Now.”

Toss in McCain .

All Bush accomplished today was help to legitimize a man whose deepest desire is to destroy the United States..
