.."Riding a wave of opposition to Democratic health-care reform, GOP upstart Scott Brown is leading in the U.S. Senate race, raising the odds of a historic upset that would reverberate all the way to the White House, a new poll shows.
Although Browns 4-point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley is within the Suffolk University/7News surveys margin of error, the underdogs position at the top of the results stunned even pollster David Paleologos.
Its a Brown-out, said Paleologos, director of Suffolks Political Research Center. Its a massive change in the political landscape.
The poll shows Brown, a state senator from Wrentham, besting Coakley, the states attorney general, by 50 percent to 46 percent, the first major survey to show Brown in the lead. Unenrolled long-shot Joseph L. Kennedy, an information technology executive with no relation to the famous family, gets 3 percent of the vote. Only 1 percent of voters were undecided.
Paleologos said bellweather models show high numbers of independent voters turning out on election day, which benefits Brown, who has 65 percent of that bloc compared to Coakleys 30 percent. Kennedy earns just 3 percent of the independent vote, and 1 percent are undecided.
Given the 4.4-point margin of error, the poll shows Coakley could win the race, Paleologos said. But if Browns momentum holds, he is poised to succeed the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy - and to halt health-care reform, the issue the late senator dubbed the cause of my life....

Now if we can just cut out the RINO sclerosis from the Republican body politic we can regain political health. The Hoffman/Brown double-bypass of the RNC shows that the Conservative bloodstream of America can stand a triple or quadruple bypass of all the moderate plaque and liberal calcification if the need, and the right prescriptions(Col. Alan West for example) arise. Paging Dr. Palin! Dr Palin, answer your page, please!
Scott Brown does take the so-called pro-choice position on abortion—it is not entirely clear to what extent his public position is a nod to Massachusetts politics. Brown has favored numerous restrictions on abortion and opposes public funding, and is endorsed by National Right to Life of Massachusetts. While I would never support Brown for president, or for Senator from, say, Pennsylvania or Michigan (which have voted Democrat in the past 5 presidential elections but where being openly pro-life is not an obstacle to election), he is as conservative a candidate as could win a Senate seat in Massachusetts at this time. Had pri-life Republican Peter Blute not lost reelection to his Congressional seat in 1996 and kept getting reelected, I would take a chance on Blute, but things are as they are.
I had never before donated to a candidate that was not officially pro-life, but this election means too much for our nation, and I have already donated to Brown’s campaign twice and will do so again today. I respectfully urge you to consider making a contribution as well.
Well said.
Take a look at that commercial....A freeper questioned on another thread if it was filmed in the WH....If so that would not be legal.
He is going to win, perhaps by a wide margin. People have all weekend to soak in Coakley’s slur on Catholics.
That gaffe couldn’t have come at a better time, right before the final push to election day.
Who is confident? I was being cynical.
Thanks for the ping, bitt.
He’s gonna win! What great news to wake up to....
Couldn't tell you, seems some guy named "Barry" has them all reserved in case his personal one breaks, so Scott hasn't been able to use one yet.
I wouldn’t put it past the media to write this kind of story just to raise our hopes of stopping the Socalists - just so we can be mortally disspirited if we lose and just accept whatever they’re going to throw at us for the next three years.
Very few Americans except the historically astute truly understand who Obama and his Junta are, and what they represent for America: despotism amnd tyranny, in a very skilfull disguise.
My prayers go out for Brown's protection. He needs 24/7 comprehensive security , now that he is ahead in the polls. And he should not be sleeping in the same place two nights consecutively IMHO.
We may be seeing the beginnings of a new phenomenon on the political landscape, the rise of the Everyman candidate. New compared to the PR-spawned veneered-tooth phantoms that we have had foisted upon us for the last 20 years, if not longer. Such media creations come from a world that we do not inhabit. Scott Brown does. Sarah Palin does. Col. West does. It could be that these desperate times call for genuine individuals such as these to respond, come to the fore and lead, and these individuals we will follow because they are us. And once this commonality between candidate and voter is established, we're theirs. No amount of money can buy this reality; no amount of speechifying can convince us otherwise against our will and better judgment. We know instinctively whether that person is one of us or not, and no amount of CNN vitriol or MSNBC venom is going change our view.
anyone silly enough to vote for him would no doubt be a dem thinking it is one of the anointed Kennedys... (I hope)

Hadn’t thought of that!!
I assume he would siphon conservative/libertarian votes away from Brown.
I’m sure they’re thinking about it.
If they dare, it’ll be a NATIONAL blowtorch NOT a spark!
Scott needs to go above 5-6% to make it impossible for the unprepared thugs to Al-Franken/ACORN the shenanigans.
It’ll be hard for them to claim that they have to wait for non-existent absentee ballots, military ballots, and the proverbial “finding missing votes in the car trunks in other states!
Yep, who would have thunk it!?
“What the CommiecRATs did to Dan and America isn’t funny.”
Well, that was pretty much the point...
The Hoffman race isn’t a good comparison because the GOP candidate achieved enough votes to give the election to the Dem. If she had dropped out, Hoffman would likely have won.
The third candidate in MA, Kennedy, is only polling 3%. It’s less likely he’ll be as much of a factor as Scuzzifava (whatever) was.
