NORTH CAROLINA ELECTION CENTRAL

If we are going to make a difference in the upcoming election, we need to KNOW the candidates. Please post the names of ALL your Congressional candidates on this thread along with any and all information available.

We need names, positions, platforms, news articles, statements, pictures. We need to separate the RINOS from the Conservatives, and most of all, we need to get the liberals of either party OUT!

We can do this if you help. I have started this thread. All you have to do is contribute a little time and a little research. Help us help this country, and between us, we WILL take our country back!

Let's Do It!!!

NCAE backs Cunningham

U.S. Senate candidate Cal Cunningham appears likely to pick up the influential teachers' endorsement in the North Carolina Democratic primary.

The N.C. Association of Educators' government relations committee recommended Thursday night that the teachers group back Cunningham in the May 4 Democratic primary, according to Cecil Banks, the government relations manager.

Banks noted that before the endorsement can become official, it has to be ratified by the full membership of the NCAE and be approved by the political committee of the National Education Association.

An NCAE endorsement would likely provide an important advantage to Cunningham in the May 4 primary battle with Chapel Hill lawyer Ken Lewis, Secretary of State Elaine Marshall and Lumberton lawyer Marcus Williams.

"The committee believed Cal Cunningham was a fresh voice, a fresh face and liked his support for public education in the [state] Senate and his vision for helping education in the federal government," Banks said.

The NCAE committee also recommended endorsing Asheboro City Council member Eddie Burks in the Republican Senate primary. GOP Sen. Richard Burr declined to meet with the NCAE committee for an interview.

North Carolina: D'Annunzio Claims Momentum at Filing Deadline (CQ Politics)

Today is North Carolina's filing deadline, and businessman Tim D'Annunzio marked the occasion by releasing details of an internal poll that shows him well positioned in the 8th House district's GOP primary -- at least in the minds of the few voters who are actually paying attention to the race.

The poll surveyed 400 likely 8th primary voters on Feb. 8 and 9, and found that just 31 percent knew enough about D'Annunzio to have an opinion of him.

That's low, but still better than any of D'Annunzio's GOP rivals.

Just 20 percent of voters knew enough about former sportscaster Harold Johnson to have an opinion of him. Only 14 percent had an opion of former state representative GOP nominee Hal Jordan and just 10 percent had an opinion of retired Army colonel and defense industry consultant Lou Huddleston. Christian conservative Darrell Day is also in the GOP race but was not polled in D'Annunzio's survey.
